The acquisition, processing and

transmission of information is the key

component of all intelligent digital

systems today.

Examples of application are the

Internet of Things, automation

technology and autonomous driving

technology.

Sensors provide information about the

state of a system or a given situation.

This data is transferred using bus

systems such as Ethernet or wireless

systems, evaluated by software on

micro-controllers and then compared

with databases, enabling the system to

react using an algorithm to the new

situation.

What is Information Engineering?

With the focus on information technology,

electrical engineering and computer

science, the range of subjects covered in the

BSc Information Engineering programme

provides you with a solid basis for working

with these modern technologies, as well as

with future technologies.

You can begin your career in a start-up, a large company or – typical for Germany – in a mid-sized, globally successful technology company (a hidden champion).

Typical positions are software or hardware developer, systems architect, technical consultant, and marketing and distribution positions in the technology sector.

Entry-level salaries are currently around 50,000 € per year.

step 2 Applying for a place on the programme

Once you have received your VPD from uni-assist

please apply online to the HAW Hamburg at

paper copies of the documents to:

step 3 Allocation of places on the course

If the number of applications exceeds the

number of places available, a ranking list is

compiled mostly based on the VPD grade, but

also on your previous experiences (CV) and

your motivation.

Letter of motivation shall contain relevant

information on your career goals and why you

chose Germany and HAW Hamburg

Any experience documented in the CV and

proven by (uncertified copies of) documents

on job experience (internship, apprenticeship,

awards) relevant for the BA Information Engineering

previous degrees and study experiences

German language skills (not mandatory, but positive

for the ranking) and cultural experiences with

Germany (visits, relatives, refugee status)

will be beneficial in the selection process.

step 3 Feedback during application process

You will receive feedback about the status of

your application via the applicant portal.

You will receive your notification of admission

on the applicant portal.

Places on the course are allocated

for non-EU applicants, at the start of June

(for the winter semester) and at the start of

December (for the summer semester)

for EU applicants, at the end of July (for the

winter semester) and the end of January (for the

summer semester)

Make sure the documents are complete and that you meet the deadlines!

If you accept a place on the course:

send a signed letter of acceptance together

with proof of health insurance and a copy of
