Publishers Chalk Talk by Jeffery Neil FoxSpecial Edition Super Guide

Welcome to another issue of Gear Up For The Game . We are glad that you are reading our popular fan publication. Let Gear UP For the Game enhance and embellish your enjoyment of the home town teams. Each issue of Gear Up For The Game has information, features, news that fans of the home town teams just have to have. We will inform, entertain and give tips on how to get the full experience of being a fan and how to get the most out of your tailgate and home gate extravaganza. Our editorial staff will provide the latest and greatest on trends and issues, feature recipes, showcase new merchandise and select winners of fans that show their true passion for tailgating in the parking lot and homegating in front of their TV. We will issue awards and prizes for those that express the best of the best.. We are dedicated and devoted to you, the fans of the hometown teams. Our mission is to help you become a better fan of your favorite team. Over the years, our company has become experts when it comes to supporting fan culture. The media does a great job of covering the teams, but it’s the fans that buy the individual and season tickets, it’s the fans that tailgate, home gate and attend watch parties. It’s the fans that buy all the supplies or attend their favorite restaurant or watering hole before, during and after games. It’s the fans that Gear UP For The Game and showcase the teams logos and colors on their clothes and gear. It’s the fans that support the team with their presence. We make the magazine digest size with the hopes that you will hold onto it. Keep it as a hand reference guide when you home gate, tailgate and Gear up For The Game! I’d appreciate if YOU would be an ambassador and show Gear Up For The Game to all your friends and relatives that follow the hometown teams. It’s fun to follow and root and hoot for your favorite team. Supporting your hometown team is part of community pride and a major fabric of the quality of life. It is an exhilarating feeling when your favorite team plays well and wins. On the flip side, it is disappointing and discouraging when your team comes up short. Everyone loves a winner. That’s for sure. I’m the proverbial optimist.. Especially when it comes to sports. I believe in miracles and I have seen many of them on the gridiron, ice rink, soccer field, baseball field and basketball court. Tampa has had its share of championships and more are on the way. I distinctly remember when our Tampa Bay Buccaneers won their inaugural Super Bowl (37) on January 26. 2003. We have declared that day a holiday and celebrate it every year in our Authentic Team Merchandise Bucs & Bull Heaven store. The greatest day in the history of Tampa Bay. Our Tampa Bay Lightning won their inaugural Stanley Cup the following year. The Lightning was just one game short this past season of making it into the final round with the goal of winning a second Stanley Cup. Yes there is next year. Our Tampa Bay Rays are hot and will make a

gallant run to compete and win and have another opportunity to play in the World Series. I want to welcome Jo Brody Weaver back as part of our Gear Up For The Game team. Jo does it all. Sells dynamic ads for our magazine and web site, writes compelling articles and she is a gourmet cook and shares her time tested recipes. I was intrigued by Samantha Bond ‘s article about “Power Shopping “, Sylvia Huddleston aka The Pirate Lady is the Queen of the Pewter Nation. I always look forward to her articles. She is a true fan and she is an expert on fan culture. I’ve never met someone with such a big heart. What The Buc Tailgate and Chef Red is featured in this issue. Tailgating in the parking lot with Raymond James Stadium as a backdrop has become a tradition for Tampa Bay Buccaneer and the University of South Florida Bulls fans. There is nothing better than meeting other Bucs and Bulls fans outside the stadium for camaraderie, pre-game speculation, tasty snacks, ice-cold drinks and a festive meal. Tailgating can simply be described as fans getting pumped up for their team in the parking lot prior to entering the stadium. The spirit that you bring to the game begins at your tailgate. Fans come from all over the Bay area to take part in pre-game festivities.

“The parking lot is a classic block party,” says longtime fan and t ailgater Chris Merritt of Land O’ Lakes. “Everyone tries to outdo

other tailgaters, but you just can’t cast judgment.”

You’ll see the tailgating group with the “Mack-Daddy” Motor Coach – with the plasma TV and gourmet food – parked next to someone with a small Weber grill cooking burgers and hot dogs with chips and dip. Just have a good time - it’s all good! The most important factor is to put your worries and concerns aside and kick back, relax and get ready to watch your favorite teams play smash mouth, exciting football and emerge victorious. There is nothing better than walking back to your car after a hard-fought victory from the home team and continuing the party in the parking lot. It’s always fun to claim winner’s rights to rival fans in the parking lots, but remember you are representing your team, so show good sportsmanship. For YOUR convenience as a tailgater/homegater, we at Gear Up For The Game have developed a simple checklist to go through the day before and prepare as much as you can for your tailgates. Tailgating 101 Story and photos by Jeffrey Neil Fox

So you think shopping is not a sport? Well, let me tell you, there are some professional shoppers out there who would put an All-star Linebacker in their place given the right incentive. Unlike the NFL, it is not about shared profits or locker room perks. It’s about 2 for 1 specials and end of the season bargains. Oh yea, warm up the minivan, we’re heading out! It’s Saturday morning at 10 a.m. Whether the shopping trip is intended to be an all day affair or a carefully orchestrated hit and run, making a list is the first step of any professional. For example, shopping for a homegating event should always begin with a list. Limber the wrist by making several slow circles in the air. This early stretching will also make swipe card action smooth at the check out lane. With list in hand, visiting a store like Authentic Team Merchandise/Bucs and Bulls Heaven is a must. Make a statement with your team pride. Decorate your home or vehicle with pewter pride. Deck yourself with the latest in team wear or you may feel like an “also ran” if you resort to wearing the same old t-shirt. When planning a homegating event, make your table a showpiece with color coordinated plates, napkins and utensils. The serious shopper knows there is no time to waste. Hustle yourself back to the minivan in seconds flat and use defensive driver skills to navigate the shopping center with ease and agility. Sprint into the next stop and carefully select a cart with four wheels facing forward. Cart selection can be critical in the time crunch of the afternoon. Power shop through the grocery store with low shelf squat grabs, high reach top shelf stretches and muscle building, full cart finishes. The ten items or less lane is for sissies. True competitors scan the check out lanes in advance of approach and slide in the newly opened lane for no waiting. Speed unloading and card ready electronic purchases are conducted with no fumbles for check writing. Coupons may cause a delay of game, but are worth it for the extra points gained in savings. Loading your purchases into and out of your vehicle is another opportunity to stretch, lift and flex. Efficient shopping means getting home ahead of the crowd. It also means putting everything away yourself. When done quickly and with some advance planning, the professional shopper may enjoy a short half time before gearing up for the game.So you see, shopping is a sport.

GEAR UP FOR THE GAME is excited to feature two fantastic female Facebook fanatics. We want Tampa to get to know our fanatical fans…………. I asked the ladies THE TOP TEN questions.(pictured)Holly Albright – Memories…………..my first Tampa Bay Buccaneer game ever, 1997, very last game in Houlihan Stadium. My favorite teams: Buccaneers, Ohio State Buckeyes, Tampa Bay Lightning and our Tampa Bay Rays. I became a Bucs fan in 1997, when I moved to Brandon from Dayton, Ohio.My favorite player is Josh Freeman, our current quarterback. He is a young fresh player, with a lot of energy and potential to win games! He proved himself in the 2010 season to be a star player on our team. I believe we will see great things from him in the upcoming season!Tony Dungy lead the Bucs to the Super Bowl in 2002, even though the season winning coach was Jon Gruden. Tony was an honest and faithful coach to both the Bucs and Colts. He is a great mentor in many communities on and off the field. I look forward to seeing how our present coach, Raheem Morris, performs in the upcoming season. I am confident he can offer the same positive influence and dedication that Dungy has in the past, my favorite coach.I would love to meet Josh Freeman. I would encourage him for the 2011 season and let him know how great he did last season! We want a repeat and more!!My favorite tailgate drink is ice cold beer and water. My mom, The Pirate Lady, says water is the key to staying hydrated while enjoying other tasty beverages at the BIG game. We don’t want to pass out in the Florida heat! We must drink plenty of water with our beer! You can find my favorite tailgate recipe, a northern favorite, Skyline Chili Dip: HYPERLINK “http://www.skylinechili.com/recipes.php” http://www.skylinechili.com/recipes.phpMy Tampa Bay Buccaneer 2011 prediction of wins and losses: 11-5Our Tampa Bay Buccaneers will win Super Bowl XLVI over the Pittsburgh Steelers!!Our Monday Night Football Game is October 3rd. I might be wearing a

hospital gown if I am delivering our baby Buccaneer, but I will make sure I have the game on in my room! If I am watching the game from home, I will probably wear a Josh Freeman jersey that I will be getting from Buccaneer Heaven. It will have to be XXL and I can give it to one of my brothers after the baby arrives. I will need to downsize after that! GO BUCS!!! Holly AlbrightI LOVE my Tampa Bay Buccaneers, Rays and Lightning.I became a true Bucs fan as a small child around 8 years old.I have FOUR favorite players: Warrick Dunn, Derrick Brooks, Ronde Barber and Mike Alstott. I love them all because they are/were great football players. They also are very great giving people in the many communities. They always go out of their way to help where ever help is needed. My favorite coach is Tony Dungy.Ronde Barber is a player I would LOVE to meet. I have always been a fan of his.My favorite tailgate beverage is light beer and water. Especially, on those hot days.A nice Publix sub is a great tailgate sandwich, with everything on it of course. LOL!My 2011 predictions for our Buccaneers: 12-4Hmmmmmmmmmmmmm we will probably be playing against the Pittsburgh Steelers in the Super Bowl. Yuck.I will be wearing my Ronde Barber jersey for our Monday Night Football game, October 3rd, against the Indianapolis Colts. GO BUCS!! Jenn MayesI have been to Jenn’s home. She has an entire room filled with her Buccaneer gear and memorabilia. You too can fill your home and tailgate camp with all your Buc desires, by visiting GEAR UP FOR THE GAME, BUC GEAR, BUC HEAVEN OR AUTHENTIC TEAM MERCHANDISE sites. Holly and Jenn are best friends who also share the same birthday! We have had so much fun tailgating and celebrating their special day in December. Okay, now you have gotten to know a little about two of our most fanatical Bucs fans. You can have a chance of being featured in one of our next GEAR UP FOR THE GAME magazines. Be sure to visit our Facebook site. Tell us how you tailgate/homegate. Find out how you can advertise your business to all of the Tampa Bay area. We have a great way of supporting the fans and their businesses. Come together in the name of the Bucs!! So, we remember back to our last game at Houlihan Stadium. We dream of and look forward to our future at Raymond James with Josh Freeman and his krewe…………………… Pirate Tom and I are looking forward to The Tampa Bay Buccaneer Fanfest Day in June! Then, we are off and running in Training Camp. It won’t be long now!!

I’ve been going to tailgates before sports games my entire life. I’m convinced that the What The Buc tailgate has to be one of the best pregame parties that I have ever attended. The tailgate was started by long time Buc fan Scott Dixon aka Bucarino in 1997 and then he hooked up with WhatTheBuc.net and the tailgate has escalated and gained momentum each and every game since. All the elements are in place. Excellent location on Ohio Street on private property that is a short walk to Raymond James Stadium for the big game. You can see the huge Buccaneer flag on the Buccaneer’s headquarters and practice facility due North of the tailgate. Parking is reasonable. The decorations awesome and I recognize much of the logo merchandise and gear, much has come from our Authentic Team Merchandise Bucs & Bulls Heaven store. WhatTheBuc.Net ‘s leader and online and radio personality , Derek “Old School” Fournier invited me to the tailgate after I met him inside the stadium for one of the Tampa Bay Buccaneer home games. I’ve let the Pewter Nation know about the tailgate and many of the super characters like Big Nasty and the Nasty Krewe, Roman Captain Bones, Pirate Lady, Pirate Tom Afroman, Atrain Man, BucNutz , Pewter Princess, Scurvy and more regularly attend the tailgate.

As Old School told me it’s one big family getting together before the game. Did I mention the awesome food and refreshments that are served and grilled up for all to enjoy? Matt Worley aka “Chef Red”, met the WTB crew a few years back and now he does his magic on the grill for everyone in attendance. He started on a small hibachi grill, has upgraded each year and now and he is unveiling his custom built 15 foot smoker this season that has been nick named “GrillZilla”. The mammoth grill has its own flatbed trailer and can hold 5-6 whole hogs. It is made out of cast iron and weighs in at over a ton. It’s a custom made grill that is designed and configured for competition bar b que. It has 4 pull out rack . Bring a side dish to contribute or bring something to throw on the grille. Or you can throw some cash at Chef Red. “ I don’t cook to make money. I do it for the love of it. I like to tailgate before the game. It is my true passion. I got my fiancé Alecia aka Madam Red an engagement ring and she let me get my new smoker.” Chef Red recently told me. Everyone is welcome at the tailgates.

For more details go to www.WhatTheBuc.net web site for map and times of the tailgates. www.BucGear.com www.JeffreyNeilFox.com [email protected]

Tailgating ChecklistBrought to you by

Homegating Checklist Brought to you by

The traditional tailgaiting parties are over and the electrified crowd push forward to get to their seats. The excitement in the air is titillating, dedicated fans dressed in their favorite team colors, some outrageous, but you can’t help but chuckle. Finally, you are part of what was once only a dream. The thousands of supports are scurrying past you, as your wheelchair is being maneuvered in and out of the hustling crowd. Fortunately, your care giver is experienced and on high alert. Almost in a daze, you can’t believe your family offered you this chance to actually be present to see your first professional football game! Amazed at the size of the stadium, you try to take it all in before you wake up and realize it’s just you fantasizing, but suddenly you are parked right in the front, along side others just as lucky a you. The area for the disabled puts you right in the heart of the stadium and lets you be part of the devoted, but impatient crowd! They want the game to begin!Pre-game drills are run, fans start their chants, and concessions are offered. The cheers and boos are yelled out, while the opposing team comes onto the field. When our team enters the stadium there is a thunderous uproar. The crowd knows the game is about to start. Our team wins the coin toss and you go wild like the rest of the fans! It’s time for kick-off and again, you want to pinch yourself, that you are actually part of this thrilling experience. Your life has suddenly taken on a new meaning. No longer feeling trapped in your imperfect body, you realize that there are others out there that are just like you. Now you have reason to laugh again, you are actually present to feel part of the exciting world of football, and know you can reach out to others you’ve met that you want to come again, and again! Your energy is spent as your care giver pushes you through the mumbling, disappointed crowd. Our team lost and as the stadium empties, all you hear is the loud stomping of feet. There will be only a few fanatics that will tailgate and party, after all, they won’t allow a loss to interfere with their traditions. The loss doesn’t stop you from feeling elated that you had finalized what you thought had been out of reach for you. The care giver gets you to your car and you ask if they are available for the next home game. Deep inside, you wonder if your family has the funds to allow you to participate again, but your hopes are high. It’s a funny thing though, even you have never taken notice to the amount of disabled fans that are such a vital part of our sports world.

You NO LONGER have to wait for The WAITING GAME

The WAITING GAME® is a FREE monthly publication, distributed to consumers at multiple locations where they wait. Each edition of The WAITING GAME contains games, puzzles, fun facts, quotable quotes, and a kids’ section. It is intended to stimulate the minds of customers and their families while they wait. The WAITING GAME is also an efficient, cost-effective advertising vehicle for small to medium-sized businesses. “The WAITING GAME first engages consumers in the publication, and then offers them an incentive to visit businesses within a small geographic area…an area they frequent,” said Rob Parfitt, co-founder of The WAITING GAME and an expert in branding and couponing. Advertisers are receiving great results! The WAITING GAME was designed to target the 3-5 mile radius from which each business draws the majority of its customers and to drive interaction by having consumers engage with the Publication to increase the chance of your ad being remembered. In addition to the print Publication, The WAITING GAME provides online and social media exposure for each advertiser; incentive-based ads can be downloaded online by consumers and are also distributed through social media campaigns. “The WAITING GAME is truly a turn-key operation for our franchisees. We provide all of the content, graphic design and printing, which allows franchisees to focus on establishing and managing relationships with their advertisers,” said Rob Parfitt.

More information about The WAITING GAME and how you can acquire a franchise can be found online at www.WaitingGamePublications.com or by calling 1.877.444.WAIT
