The Hon’ble Finance Minister is likely to present on 1 st February 2018, India’s first post-GST and last full budget before the general elections of 2019. The industry and the common man are expecting a slew of reforms particularly with regards to tax slabs, deductions and exemptions. This year, the expectations of a tax friendly budget are even higher. The industry is urging the government to cut corporate tax rates in order to make the Indian industry competitive on a global level. It is expected that the Union budget will throw light on the government’s thought process on how it intends to steer the economy going forward. It may also provide hints on government steps further to increase tax base in the country.
