you are going to be fine.

you are going to be fine. one day you will walk far from here and laugh laugh laugh while you stand by the sea. there is a darkness now that will yield to light. you will find the light within yourself, and see, finally, the light you have been given. summer will come again and you will spend your days in the warm water, hands linked with the world. the sunny days are coming.

laura jane grace

laura jane grace is the lead singer of against me! and is also a transwoman. she inspires me because she has experienced (and, sadly, will continue to experience) hardships i can only dream of, but keeps going, making cool music and being a great wife & parent in the meantime. (also she has a fabulous sense of style i mean look at her.) she says punk has helped her stay strong and be the awesome person she is today. "Kids  would   call   me  faggot   and   beat   me   up.   I   liked   that  punk   was   about   fighting   back,   as  opposed  to  just  taking  it."  laura jane grace is one of the bravest people i can think of. rather than conform to expectations and society, she fought back, using music, style, and her gender identity. she’s written songs about gender dysphoria (feeling conflict between one’s gendered body and personal

gender identity) and even appeared on MTV’s “House of Style.” “The  only  reason  I’m  putting  myself  out  here  and  talking   about   anything   is   because  there’s   been   so   many   trans*   girls   on  Youtube   or   that   I’ve   read   about   that  put  themselves  out  there  and  made  their  knowledge  available  that  I  feel  like  I  have   to   return   the   favor.   You   know,  when   I   was   14   years   old,   if   I   was  watching   House   of   Style,   watching   a  transsexual   being   interviewed   and  talking   about   that,   then   it   would’ve  completely   changed   my   life,   you  know...I   would’ve   felt   saved.”   laura jane grace is incredible because she is talented, enthusiastic, and using her pain and struggles to make the world a better place. which, to me, is the greatest thing you can do when you are experiencing a world of hurt for just being who you are.

“That's the lesson that I want to impart to my daughter: It doesn't matter what people think of you – you have to be true to yourself.”
