    Security By joining a group, individuals can reducethe insecurity of standing along. People feelstronger, have fewer self-doubts, and are moreresistant in threats when they are part of a group.

    Status Inclusion in a group that is viewed asimportant by others provides recognition and statusfor its members.

    Self-esteem Groups can fulfill social needs. Peopleenjoy the regular interaction that comes with groupmembership. For many, the on-the-job interactionsare their primary source of fulfilling their needs for affiliation.
