2 bombas: 1 sumergible y una de aspiración.

Supuestamente aquí hay una gran bolsa de

agua. En teoría es para la agricultura pero en el

huerto la beben. Bombea 4 horas por la

Water consumption by mining industry in Chile

500,000.0 ton/y x 2

10 mm 100 Km2 Is that sustainable ?

Some reflections• Extensive groundwater resources available in hyper-

arid regions.

• Growing population (improving living conditions and development)

• Increasing agriculture (good conditions for high value crops)

• “Boom” of mining activity (steady increase of metals’ price by demand in emerging economy)

• Conflicts (low level) between different users already exist and could be expected to increase

• A need of water management models/doctrines specific for arid an hyper arid environments. Traditional or “modern” water management paradigms are not valid here!
