Georgia Tech Takes On Rival Georgia Saturday In Atlanta Georgia Tech, most likely en route to its 11th consecutive bowl appearance, takes a two-game winning streak into Saturday’s regular season- closing game against rival Georgia (3:30 p.m./ABC). The Yellow Jackets, 7-4 overall and 4-4 in the ACC, locked up their 11th consecutive winning season and finished .500 or better in conference play for the 13th straight year by beating North Carolina, 27-25, last Saturday in Atlanta. Senior running back Tashard Choice rushed 33 times for 142 yards and senior Travis Bell kicked a field goal with 15 seconds remaining to give the Yellow Jackets a 27-25 victory over visiting North Carolina. Three different Yellow Jackets threw touch- down passes against the Tar Heels. Georgia, 9-2 and 6-2, brings a five-game win- ning streak into Saturday’s game. The Bulldogs, ranked sixth by Associated Press and seventh by USA Today, are coming off a 24-13 victory that kept them in the hunt for a berth into the SEC Championship game. Georgia leads the all-time series, 58-38-5. The Bulldogs have won six straight in the series, in- cluding a 15-12 win over the Yellow Jackets last year in Athens (more series history on page three). A Georgia Tech victory Saturday could mean a better -- if not a more geographically pleasing - - bowl game for the Yellow Jackets. The Jackets are in search of their eighth vic- tory. Other than last season, when Tech had nine wins, the Yellow Jackets haven’t produced eight regular season wins in a season since 2000. Georgia Tech has defeated teams ranked in the AP top 10 in recent years -- a 14-10 win at Miami in 2005 being the last -- but the Jackets are looking for their first win at home against a top- 10 team since beating No. 7 Virginia in 1998. In terms of bragging rights, Saturday’s game is important for Tech true freshmen Morgan Bur- nett and Scott Blair. Burnett’s brother, Cap, played football at Georgia. Blair’s sister, Michelle, is a sen- ior member of the Georgia equestrian team. Saturday’s Game Features Two Top Rushers Georgia Tech and Georgia both feature two of the nation’s top running backs -- Yellow Jacket senior Tashard Choice and Bulldog freshman Knowshon Moreno. Choice (117.6 ypg), who has battled knee and hamstring injuries, leads the ACC and ranks 20th nationally in rushing. Moreno (111.6 ypg) ranks second behind Arkansas’ Darren McFadden in the SEC and he ranks 25th nationally. Choice has rushed for 100 yards seven times this season and 17 times in his career, including a 142-yard effort last week against North Carolina. Moreno has rushed for 100 yards in five con- secutive games, including 124 yards last week in the win over Kentucky.

Jackets Get Another Shot AtNationally-Ranked Opponent
Sixth-ranked Georgia (7th in the USA Today
poll) is the highest ranked opponent to come to
Bobby Dodd Stadium since the Yellow Jackets
hosted No. 2 Notre Dame on Sept. 2, 2006.
Georgia Tech will be playing its fourth na-
tionally-ranked opponent of the season. The Yel-
low Jackets are 1-2 against ranked foes with
losses to No. 21 Boston College and No. 11 Vir-
ginia Tech, and a win over No. 13 Clemson.
The Yellow Jackets are looking for their first
win against a top-10 team since winning at No. 3
Miami, 14-10, on Nov. 19, 2005.
Tech has defeated three top-10 teams since
2000, but it has not beaten a top-10 team at
home since knocking off No. 7 Virginia on Oct.
17, 1998.
The Yellow Jackets have not beat a team
ranked sixth or higher in the AP poll at home
since beating No. 1 Alabama on Nov. 17, 1962.
Georgia Tech is 79-150-6 all-time against na-
tionally-ranked opponents including a 41-70-4
record at home.
In six seasons under coach Chan Gailey, Tech
is 8-16 vs. ranked opponents including a 2-9 mark
at Bobby Dodd Stadium.
The Yellow Jackets are 27-88-2 all-time
against teams ranked in the AP top 10, including
a mark of 13-40-2 at home.
Against teams ranked sixth in the AP poll,
Tech is 4-5 all-time including a 2-4 record at
home.
Georgia brings its highest ranking into the
Georgia Tech game since coming in at No. 5 in
both 2002 and 2003.
Either Georgia Tech or Georgia -- or both
teams -- have been ranked coming into the an-
nual game every year since 1997.
Richard, Tuminello Named ToAcademic All-District Team
Georgia Tech senior center Kevin Tuminello
and junior defensive tackle Darryl Richard were
named to the ESPN The Magazine-sponsored Ac-
ademic All District 3 team announced by the Col-
lege Sports Information Directors of America.
Tuminello, a candidate for the Rimington Tro-
phy, has started 36 consecutive games for the Yel-
low Jackets. The Youngstown (Ohio) native leads
an offensive line that ranks first in the ACC in
fewest sacks allowed. Tuminello has also been in-
strumental in Tech leading the ACC in rushing of-
fense.
Richard, a starter on the Yellow Jacket defen-
sive line, graduated from Georgia Tech in just
three years and is currently enrolled in graduate
school. Richard has 9.0 tackles-for-loss 4.5 sacks
and a forced fumble this season.
By earning a spot on the Academic All-District
team, Tuminello and Richard advance to the bal-
lot for Academic All-American.
Darryl RichardThe junior has already graduated. Now he’sworking on Master’s degree
Obtaining a degree from
Georgia Tech takes a great
deal of work, which
makes junior defensive
tackle Darryl Richard an
interesting story. Richard,
who redshirted in 2005,
earned his Management
degree in just three years.
The junior (eligibility-
wise) is currently in the
Tech MBA program.
They Said It“Football is not enough for him. It’s notenough to excel in football. He wants toexcel in everything.”-- Accounting Professor Doborah Turner on Geor-
gia Tech’s Darryl Richard, who graduated in three
years and is now pursuing an MBA
“He (Darryl Richard) is what a student-ath-lete should be; he’s not someone who givesit lip service. He has a great personality, too.I tell him he’s going to be governor ofLouisiana one day.”-- Georgia Tech defensive line coach Giff Smith
“(Notre Dame) was a comparable school(to Georgia Tech) in terms of what it had tooffer on the football field as well as in life. Ithelped (Tech) that it did not get under 10degrees too often down here in Atlanta.”-- Darryl Richard on why he chose Georgia Tech
over Notre Dame
“It’s just like family here, and it’s real. I knewI’d get a great education. When I go home, people ask me why I didn’t go to LSU and Ijust tell them ‘this is my new home.’”-- Darryl Richard
“Playing defensive tackle at Georgia Tech ismore fun than at some places. We blitz somuch that we get a lot of one-on-one blocks, and that gives him (Darryl Richard) achance for glory. He’s very powerful andhard to move. I’ve known players who werebook-smart but not that smart on the field.Darryl is both. He’s cerebral, he knows howpeople attack, he’s like a coach on the field.”-- Georgia Tech defensive line coach Giff Smith

provide childrenin need with Christmas presents
this year. The children will be from the Atlanta
metro area through recommendations received
from area teachers for grades K-8. Parents of the
running backs will be taking up donations prior to
each home game. In December, the Yellow Jacket
running backs will deliver the gifts. Donations
should be sent to: Rushing For Rudolph; Georgia

rushing for the first time since 1984. The Yellow
Jackets are averaging 208.5 yards per game.
The Yellow Jackets lead the ACC in five other
statistical categories: net punting, kickoff returns,
sacks, sacks allowed and PAT kicking (tied).

Bell Leads The ACC In ScoringSenior kicker Travis Bell is trying to something
only one other Georgia Tech player has done --
lead the ACC in scoring.
Bell currently ranks first in the league in scor-
ing with 97 points, two points in front of Clem-
son kicker Mark Buchholz.
The last and only Yellow Jacket to lead the
ACC in scoring was Robert Lavette in 1982.
Choice Chasing History AsACC Rushing Champion
Senior running back Tashard Choice will join
elite company if he can hold on as the ACC’s
rushing champion for the second straight year.
Choice (117.6 ypg) holds a huge lead over
Clemson’s James Davis (79.1 ypg).
If Choice, who led the league in rushing in
2006, can hold on to the lead, he will be the first
player to lead the ACC in rushing in consecutive
years since Virginia’s Thomas Jones in 1998-99.
Only six players in ACC history have won the
rushing title in back-to-back years. No Georgia
Tech players have ever achieved that feat. Vir-
ginia’s Terry Kirby led the league in rushing twice,
but not in consecutive seasons.
