Gregory Gregory Gregory Gregory CarterCarterCarterCarter
Born on August 11, 1952 to Tom and Mary Louise Carter, of Hammond, LA, he grew up a good ole country
boy who knew about God, good creole cooking, guiding and protecting his siblings, and the value of hard
work, education and family. As a child, Gregory was inquisitive, talkative, mischievious, and stubborn, yet a
brilliant thinker. He was always known as “the smart one.” All these traits proved to serve him well later in
life as he became a fierce businessman and community activist managing and directing the political
campaigns and careers of many influential political leaders.
Gregory received a Bachelor’s of Science degree from Southeastern Louisiana University in Political Science
and was also a honorable member of the armed services (Army). Gregory served as a State Farm Insurance
Agent for 21 years before retiring. He also built a company along with his youngest daughter Kim; Carter
Consulting & Management Group, Inc. dedicated to providing excellence and innovation in management
practices. Gregory worked tirelessly in his efforts to improve humanity and guide young brilliant minds as a
mentor to many. His love for reading, the acquisition of knowledge and education was also evidenced in
his love for public speaking. He was often called upon to share words of wisdom and speeches that were
informative yet eloquent, creative, and moving.
Gregory’s love for food was equal to his zeal for learning. Early on he perfected many creole recipes and
became known for his Bar-B-Que and as the “King of Gumbo.” He was always found cooking a very
expensive pot of gumbo and his legacy will continue as his dream “Chef Uncle G’s” comes to fruition.
Gregory had a zeal and love for people like none other. He NEVER met a stranger! He enjoyed traveling the
world, spending time with his family, working with his many mentees, guiding his grandchildren, and
encouraging everyone he met.
Gregory valued the importance of integrity and family. He would always stress to his family that “the
covenant of family always, ALWAYS supercedes convenience!” Known as an overcomer, Gregory was a
TRUE SURVIVOR having pressed through many health struggles. Greg’s unrelenting faith and fortitude are
his legacy.
On Tuesday, March 18, 2014, Gregory Carter transitioned from his earthly home to be reunited with his
parents, Tom and Mary Louise Carter, his brothers (Tom Carter Jr., Willie Ray Carter, and Thaddeus Carter)
and sisters (Evelyn McCarter, Helen McGary, and Stephanie Jacob). He leaves to cherish his memory his
wife of 44 years, Faye Carter; one son, Ephraim “Tiger” Abdullah (Aliyyah Abdullah); two daughters
Danaquoa “Sundae” Allen (Arlo Allen) and Kim Carter Evans (Noble “Neal” Evans); ten grandchildren; Nia,
Gerald, Victoria “Tori”, Amir, Adam, Alexia “Lexi”, Muhammad, Dre’Lyn, Amira and Zacharia; one brother,
James Jerome Carter, Sr. (Mildred); three sisters, Geraldine Johnson, Elaine Carter and Cynthia Thorn; He
also leaves numerous nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends to treasure his memory. The family would also
like to thank two special friends that aided in caring for him during his final days, Willie Brazil and Joanie
Weber.

My Tribute to You!!My Tribute to You!!My Tribute to You!!My Tribute to You!!
Words will never be able to express my love for you. I did my very best to show you while you were
here with us. I wasn’t the perfect daughter and I know I gave you a hard time but everyone always
said I was/am the female version of you…they say “I act, look and TALK…JUST LIKE MY DADDY!
When it came down to it; you were always there for me and I was always there for you when it
mattered most. I will carry everything you have taught me and pass it on to future generations. I
will continue to build your dreams, and live your legacy! Don’t worry Daddy….I GOT YOU! (…and
Momma, Tiger, Sundae and your grandbabies. I will be there for Uncle Jerome, Aunt Geraldine,
Auntie Elaine “Auntie,” Aunt Cynthia, ….well everybody!! I will take care of and honor them all in
your memory! I know how much you loved your family!)….And don’t worry Daddy…Me and the girls
are being well taken care of! Mr. Evans’ got you too!
Until we dance again, I leave you the words to “our song,”
Love Always,
Kim

"Daddy""Daddy""Daddy""Daddy"
Because you loved me I overcome
And I'm so proud of what you've become
You've given me such security
No matter what mistakes I know you're there for me
You cure my disappointments and you heal my pain
You understood my fears and you protected me
Treasure every irreplaceable memory and that's why…
I want my unborn son to be like my daddy, I want my husband to be like my daddy, There is no one else like my daddy
And I thank you for loving me
Even if my man broke my heart today
No matter how much pain I'm in I will be okay
Cause I got a man in my life that can't be replaced
For this love is unconditional it won't go away
I know I'm lucky
Know it ain't easy
For men who take care of their responsibilities
Love is overwhelming
Lord why did you pick me
Can't stop my tears from falling
I love you so much daddy
(Thank you, you've done so much for me. I love you daddy.)
I get so emotional daddy, every time I think of you
There is no one else like my daddy
No one else replace my daddy...
(Song Lyrics by Beyonce’)

Don’t Cry for me for I Live OnDon’t Cry for me for I Live OnDon’t Cry for me for I Live OnDon’t Cry for me for I Live On
Don't cry for me in sadness; don't weep for me in sorrow,
For I will be beside you, as sure as comes tomorrow.
My body has gone but my spirit lives on, as does my love for you.
Just as in life. I'll watch over you, I always will be true.
My blood lives on in my children and grandchildren, how I've watched them grow up with pride.
I'll live on within them, always by their side.
Reach out if you need me, for I will always be near.
Just talk to me, as if I am there, I promise I will hear.
For I'll live on, with in your mind, we'll never be apart,
As long as you keep my memory, deep within your heart.
So lift up your hearts, don't be sad, my spirit hasn't gone.
While you are still there, so am I, I really will live on.

Page 18
Sundae,
I want you Arlo and the boys to know that I will always love you. Arlo is a good man so you better get
it together and stick it out. I can hear you saying now….”Who does he think he is telling me what to
do?”….but I will tell you. “I am your Daddy girl, so stop being so hard headed!”....LOL! Remember the
covenant of marriage ALWAYS supercedes CONVENIENCE!
We can always wish that things had worked out differently and we can look back and think of all the
time we didn’t have together when you were younger or we can make a choice to remember all the
good times. Please take care of your little sister for me.
Don’t ever for another day think anything other than, You had your father’s love!
I will miss you all!
Love,
Daddy
Page 19
Tiger,
The little boy in this picture I held so dear. There is no greater joy than a father’s love for his only son.
All I ever wanted for you was everything I had (a father who taught me the value of hard work and
family) and everything I didn’t have (THE WORLD). I know I pushed you and you often pushed back.
We didn’t always agree but one thing never changed…you ARE my one and only son and I love you.
Teach your boys everything I taught you, take them hunting, take them fishing and camping….MAKE
MEMORIES!
In the end, all we have is “Those we have made and those we have met along the way!”
Take care of your mother and your sisters for me. I pass the torch. You are the man of this family now.
You have two strong men standing to help you. Your sisters married some good men! I want you ALL
to be a family!
YOU ALL ARE MY LEGACY! All is forgiven, so let’s choose to forget and focus and remember only the
good. Let my big brother (your Uncle Jerome) know how much I love him!
I love you son,
Daddy
Page 20
Faye (Boo),
No matter how things may have come to an end, we shared the greatest years of my life. You gave me
the greatest of all gifts, MY LEGACY! MY CHILDREN!
Always know that everything I did or didn’t do was for all of you. I only wanted what I thought was
best for my family.
I want you to remain close to my sisters. Kim has her instructions; help her carry them out. Take care
of them like they have cared for me.
Tell Elaine, Geraldine & Cynthia how much I love them, and I will miss them and all their bickering.
Be strong and LIVE! All is forgiven. I am home with the Lord now….until we meet again!
Love always,
Greg
PS…..There is no letter for Kim because I got the chance to tell her in person…..
