Livestock Club—Livestock club met for their monthly meeting. Congratulations were extended to Shane and Daniel Perry for their dedication to 4-H and attendance at the recent Gold Star banquet at SFA. Plans for the upcoming Harvest Festival were discussed as well as plans for the 2015 upcoming judging events. One Day 4-H plans are under way and Fundraising results and efforts/plans were also discussed. Next meeting scheduled for November at the usual date and time.
Shamrocks Club—For One Day 4H, members of the club went to Songbird Assisted Living to play games, bring treats and visit with the residents there. At our last meeting, the Shamrocks met on Monday, October 13th with 23 members and 10 adults present. Our guest speaker was from the Longview Police Department's Canine unit, who brought her police dog, Bejarus. As a club, we collected canned goods for the Thanksgiving Food Drive. We have begun our fundraising effort of selling poinsettias. We hope to have each family sell at least 10, but there will be a prize for the member who sells the most. Our next meeting will be November 10th at 2:00 PM at the Gregg County Extension Office. We will have the Longview Fire Department come and give a program about fire safety. Please invite friends to come for this valuable information. If you are planning on coming, and on bringing friends, please let Ms. Tammie Olson know by Nov. 3. Also, we will continue to be collecting canned goods for the Food Drive, so bring them with you.
