Reusable Bottles

One very important and very easy way to help the planet is to simply buy a reusable water bottle! You (yes you) can save a lot of money, and a lot of plastic from entering

landfills and waterways.

Did You Know?

Province announces $46.3 million for Randle

Reef cleanup

Ontario’s government has pledged over 40 million dollars to help attempts to clean up Hamilton’s Randle Reef. This heavily polluted area located in the heart of Hamilton’s industrial district is in dire need of a remedy. The $138.9 million budget to dredge up and house the toxic sediments is shared by Hamilton municipalities, as well as the provincial and federal governments.

'Mega-quarry' in southern Ontario won't be

built

An application to build a large limestone quarry –nicknamed the “Mega-quarry” for its remarkable size, has been withdrawn. This large quarry was planned to be cut into land near Melancthon (near Orangeville), but has been cancelled due to lack of local support. Although the mining companies may regard this as a loss, it is certainly a tremendous gain for residents of Melancthon, and every organism in the vicinity. Woohoo justice!
