Aaron Bernard Brim is from Reidsville, NC, but has resided in Long Island New York for three decades. Aaron is the

president of Brimstone Music Productions Corp. and San-Fe-Ti Records. He is married to Sandra Brim and is the father of two daughters Felicia and Tiki and has

six grandchildren. He is a professional drummer and has worked with recording artist and has played

concerts, club venues and private affairs around the world. Aaron has three CD’s to

his credit with his latest release being spoken word and jazz entitled “ACCOUNTABILITY” with lyrical substance that addresses social and

spiritual issues and offers inspirational solutions. This CD is comprised of poetry that evokes thought and expresses resilience

as each lyric rest upon great jazz and funky grooves that exemplify excellence in musicality. Aaron is a professional drummer, bandleader, song and poetry writer, spoken word artist and co-producer of this project.

Underwood, Aaron has masterfully accomplished his goal in recording music that will reach others and share truth without reservations. Aaron is recognized among those that use music and poetry in pursuit of positive change. He states we were not born winners or losers but we are born to be choosers.

The path we take and the changes we make are predicated upon choice. Aaron’s endeavor is to perform his music and lyrical content and share his God given gift with people around the world. He expresses his gratefulness to all that support him in his musical endeavors. His desire is to continue giving his best to everyone for the greater good of mankind and for the glory of God.

Aaron has a new book entitled Who’s Gon’ Kill the Snake? This book is written to address the issues of our community and is soon to be released.

Cherry Silver is a woman who believes and trusts God whole heartedly. She knows without a doubt that it was Jesus who brought her through many trials, situations and circumstances and she counts it all joy being a child of the Most High God. Birthed out of her intimate personal relationship with God came the gift

to write poetry. In obedience to God the Father and at the leading of the Holy Spirit, she pursued and published her

WWinchester I thought to myself, this guy can’t be a boxer. He’s small and has no weight to him. Boy was I wrong.

With one word I sustained an instant TKO, not by

Greensboro Live: James, tell us a little bit about yourself. I know you’re from the triad area.

James “Shotgun” Winchester: Yes! I’m from Reidsville, NC. I come from a childhood of living in the streets. I’m trying to do something positive for me, my kids plus people who are trying to do good things in life.

GL: How was it growing up in Reidsville?

Shotgun: It was rough. I grow up in the hood, living near crack houses. Living a that life landed me in prison at the age of 15.

GL: Tell us about your prison experience.

Shotgun: I went to jail at the age of 15. I was charged

ended up getting a lesser charge of 2nd degree murder. I was in jail from 15 to 21 years old.

GL: When did you start boxing?

Shotgun: I starting boxing while in prison. I did it to learn a trade. I knew when I got released I was going to be a felon. I knew I would have strikes against me.

GL: How was your transition from prison life back to

Shotgun: When I can home in 2000 I ended up going back to the streets and caught an attempted murder charge in 2005. This pushed me off the street but it also woke me up. I knew I had to change. My life was different now. I had to start thinking. I had a baby on the way. I started to think about what I needed to do and started thinking about how I was going to make my life better. I went back to prison in 2006 for that charge. This time I invested most of money into better myself. I started reading self-help book.

GL: Do you think prison saved your life?

of my time back. It saved me. I think I would have been dead by 16 or 17 had I not went to prison.

GL: How are you going to use boxing to change your life?

Shotgun: I already have. I’m living my dream. I’m doing something that I’ve always wanted to do. I was determined to do. I set my mind to it and applied the energy to it. That’s the formula to succeed in life. Once again I’m living my dreams. I have fought in Vegas three times as well as Miami. I have fought on some of the biggest cards like Manny Pacquiao, Sergio Martinez and

I’m in the biggest squares and living my dreams to the fullest.

GL: Now how has that translated in to locally? What do you have going on?

Shotgun: I am putting on my own matches. Doing my

GL: How has this impacted your family?

Shotgun: Majorly! I’m a better father and a better husband. I’ve settle down now. I don’t have time for the streets.
