Green Screen in TV Dramas

Why it was used

• Green screen is used in East Enders a lot in the pub scenes, they film all the glasses and drinks in front of green screens so that the actors don’t have to do it themselves, they do it like this so that it saves the actors time and effort, and it reduces accidental spillages on set which would delay production of the show, it also comes down to health and safety, by doing it this way there are no accidental breakages. (this is a case of the most extreme and is also a satirical sketch)

Pros and cons

• Pros: it reduces time on set for the actors, reduces risk of accidents and spillages on set. And means that the actors jus have to do what they do best without having to worry about everything else

• Cons: it takes a lot of time to get the glasses in the right place to match up with what's on screen it also costs a lot of money to do it this way and every time they want to do a bar scene it has to be done this way.

How will I use green screen

• For our web based drama I thought we could use the green screen for one of the scenes where an actor falls down the stairs to his death.
