Green Hydrogen & Ammonia Opportunities
in Tunisia

TuNur Introduction
7/6/2021 TuNur Ltd - Renewable Energy, Hydrogen & Ammonia Opportunities in
Tunisia 2
• TuNur Ltd is an independent renewable
energy and hydrogen developer
• Based in Tunisia and focused on the
Mediterranean region
• Growing development portfolio across
various technologies
• In-country development team based in
Tunisia and successful track record in local
market
• First solar PV project in Tunisia to start
construction in 2022
Since 2019 TuNur has been investigating the potential for green hydrogen and ammonia development in the region
Participation in the “HyDeal Ambition”. Tunisia can be one of the lowest cost producers of solar <€20/MWh; and H2 <€1.5/Kg, making it highly competitive with European production
Developing a long term strategy starting with NH3 and eventually scaling into H2 subject to framework and infrastructure availability
TuNur working with leading companies to evaluate the full value chain of H2 & NH3 opportunities in Tunisia, including:

Benefits of Green Hydrogen & Ammonia in Tunisia
• Increasing energy security by reducing reliance on imports and
reducing trade deficit
• Facilitating significant job creation across upstream, midstream
and downstream, and increased investment in RES sector
• Attracting new investments into “green manufacturing”
(green cement; green ammonia; green steel), increasing exports
• Making Tunisia an energy, trade and manufacturing hub in the
Mediterranean, leveraging existing infrastructure
• Regional investment and socio-economic development, and
technology transfer
• Synergistic opportunity to have a domestic and export
strategy in parallel

Evaluation of a “Tunisia-Italy” leg showed that Hydrogen
projects could…..
In 2021 TuNur participated in the “HyDeal Ambition”, an
initiative involving over 40 companies to evaluate the
hydrogen “ecosystem” for over 92GW of solar producing
3.6m tonnes of H2 across Europe
Produce low cost H2 at
€1.5/kg including transport and storage cost
Production of 1,4Mt/year
production for export
Attract potential
investment of 20+Bn€
Generate 6,93 billion
TND p.a. of new export
*Subject to regulatory framework; access to infrastructure and storage capacity

7/6/2021 TuNur Ltd – Project Amun Vert 6
• Amun Vert is a small-scale pilot project under development by TuNur,
to produce green ammonia in Southern Tunisia using 100% solar
power
• Located in the southern region of Gabès the PV plant will produce green
electricity to power the electrolysis and ammonia units
• The project will produce 1,500 tonnes of NH3 to be stored/transported by
trucks from site to local and/or international off takers
• The pilot project can act as proof of concept for significant roll out of large
scale green ammonia projects for local and international markets
Technical Details
Technology PV + Alkaline Electrolyzer + Ammonia Unit (HBL, ASU)
Capacity PV (9.5MW); Electrolyser (4.5MW)
