Apollo: the God of the Sun, Light, Music and Prophecy

Son of Zeus and the Titan, Leto

Born in the Greek islands of Delos

Dionysus: the God of Wine and the Grape Harvest

Son of Zeus and the mortal Semele making him a demigod and a hero.

Good towards mankind.

Page 4: Greek Mythology

Hades: the God of the Dead and Kind of the Underworld

Oldest son of Cronus and Rhea. Brother of Zeus and Poseidon. Defeated their father and the Titans.

Married to Persephone.

Poseidon: the God of the Sea

Son of Cronus and Rhea. Considered one of the most bad-tempered, moody, and greedy Olympian gods.

Zeus: the God of the Sky and the King of the Gods

Controls lightning and the sky. King of Mount Olympus. Son of Cronus and Rhea.

Aphrodite: the Goddess of Love, Beauty, and Eternal Youth

Daughter of Zeus and Dione. Wars were held to fight over her. Married to Hephaestus, but it wasn’t said

to be “real”.

Artemis: the Goddess of the Hunt, Forests, Hills, the Moon, and Archery

One of the most respected Goddesses. Daughter of Zeus and the Titan Leto. Her twin brother is Apollo.

A protector of young children.

Athena: the Goddess of Wisdom and War

She is known for her strategic skill in warfare. Daughter of Zeus by him experiencing a headache

and she popped out of his head in armor.

Demeter: the Goddess of Agriculture, Fertility, Sacred Law and the Harvest

Has a virgin daughter Persephone who was taken by Hades. Demeter searched for her for a long time.

Daughter of Cronus and Rhea. Zeus was Persephone’s father.

Hera: the Goddess of Marriage and the Queen of Olympus

The wife and sister of Zeus. She was jealous of the lovers and offspring of Zeus. The peacock was sacred

to her.

Hestia: the Goddess of the Hearth and Domestic Life

One of only three virgin goddesses. Took an oath to never enter into a union with a man. Daughter of

Cronus and Rhea. Sister of Zeus.
