Message from the President, April DiFalco On behalf of the GMCC Board of Director’s, your Chamber Team , nearly 500 fellow members, and myself, I welcome you to the Greater Manchester Chamber of Commerce, and thank you for choosing our organization as your Chamber partner.

With nearly 500 business located in over 30 towns in CT, whether your business is located in Manchester or in the surrounding communities, we have the programs and services to meet the needs of businesses of all sizes, in all industries. We pride ourselves in offering tailored services that are fitted to your business. We value your contributions to our Chamber and our Community.

By joining our Chamber, you are investing in not only your business, but in the well being of our economy. Our programs and services are designed to provide employers and their employees with education, le a d e r s h i p , a n d p r o f e s s i o n a l d e v e l o p m e n t s k i l l s t o c r e a t e a s t r o n g w o r k f o r c e . A strong workforce begins with education. The GMCC supports educational programs that will enrich the lives of school age students as well as adult learners. We lead our industry in educational initiatives and are the only Chamber in CT to host our very own “Junior Achievement Day” each year, in which our member volunteers take over an entire middle school to empower students with the knowledge they need to start thinking about entrepreneurship and their future career goals. Our partnership with the High School involves providing business participation for annual Career Fairs, Mock Interview Sessions and Experiential Learning opportunities similar to internships. New to our educational roster is our participation in the Credit Union Association’s “Financial Reality Fairs” at the high school level. Both of these important initiatives engage our students with fun and interactive activities, teaching the fundamentals of financial stability and the importance of good credit.

Our partnership with the Manchester Adult Ed & Continuing Education provides us the opportunity to offer a “Business Academy” to employers and employees. This Academy provides education to working adults looking to advance their careers and also provides business owners with interns, job shadowing candidates, and a qualified pool of employee candidates within a number of specialized industries. Our goal is to not only keep people working, but to provide the opportunities that will strengthen the employer and employee.

Make your membership work for you. You have a great number of programs and services at your disposal. Take advantage of all we provide. Come to events, participate in industry groups, utilize our resources...isn’t that why you joined? I’ll leave you with a final thought.. Every New Year’s resolution seems to be to become more health conscious, so we purchase a membership to a gym. A week goes by and we haven't gone to that gym, then a month just flies by and we realize we were just too busy to work out. Before you know it, a year has passed and it’s time to renew, and you ask yourself why you are still carrying around those few extra pounds. Because you didn’t workout! Your Chamber membership is very similar… if you don’t get involved, attend events, meet fellow members, build relationships and market yourself, that goal you had of making your business through your Chamber membership may not come to fruition. Your membership should be viewed as important as a potential client. You never know who you will meet at our events. Your fellow members are potential clients. Worthy accomplishments are attained through hard work. We promise, this won’t be hard, you just have to take that first step a n d g e t i n v o l v e d !
