Great Oaks Church of Christ Proudly honors the class of 2016 Ruth Alvarez, daughter of Will and Elena Alvarez, and her older brother is Alejandro. She will graduate from White Station High School on May 10th, 2016. She has worked as volunteer helping people in need. Ruth has always stood out as an excellent student making principal lists throughout her studies. She likes to cook, swim, and spend time with her family. After graduation, she plans to attend the University of Memphis to pursue a career in medicine. Ryan Kendall Barker, son of Mickey and Michele Barker, will be attending Freed-Hardeman University on the Trustee Merit Scholarship in the fall of 2016. He plans to study law and politics, attend law school and eventually become a prosecuting attorney. Ryan achieved the rank of Eagle Scout at the age of fif- teen, completing his Eagle project at the Great Oaks church building. He is a member of Eta Sigma Alpha National Homeschool Honor Society. Ryan has played trumpet in The Shepherds Horn concert band and jazz band for the last six years. He has been ac- tive in Lads to Leaders since third grade, competing in Bible Bowl, speech, debate and puppets. Ryan has been homeschooled since seventh grade and will be graduating May 14 through the Memphis-area Home Education Association. Vladimir Andrew Carey is the son of Jane Carey and the late John Carey. He is the youngest sibling of Julia and Alex Carey. Vladimir will be graduating from Bartlett High School class of 2016. He has enjoyed being apart of the theatre program at Bartlett. Vladi- mir has been an active member of the Great Oaks Youth Group for six years. He has enjoyed participat- ing in Lads to Leaders for the past six years. After graduation Vladimir will be serving in the U.S. Army. He will be leaving for boot camp at the end of May. Ashley Elizabeth Childs, daughter of Robert Bobbyand Angela Childs and sister to Robert, will graduate from Fayette Academy High School in Som- erville, TN on May 16, 2016. She has been very ac- tive in her schools Drama department, Chorus, Span- ish Club, Jazz Band, Marching Band and is the sec- tion leader of the Pitt section this year. Ashley has played several different instruments to include, Alto and Tenor Saxophone, the Bells, Vibraphone, Marim- ba and currently trying to learn the Bassoon. She has also been active in FCA-Fellowship of Christian Ath- letes and played on the Golf team her Sophomore and Junior year. Ashley is currently working with the Fair theater group in Somerville, TN for their upcom- ing production of Southern Hospitality”. She works at the VANS shoe store in the Wolfchase Galleria Mall. Ashley makes time in her busy schedule to volunteer at the Germantown Animal Shelter and helps with the Annual Winnie Race fund raiser during the German- town Festival. Great Oaks Church of Christ Proudly honors the class of 2016 Ruth Alvarez, daughter of Will and Elena Alvarez, and her older brother is Alejandro. Bowl in Lads to Leaders for the last six years. Ashley will be attending CBU-Christian Brothers University in the fall to pursue a degree in Psychology. Go BUCS class of 2020! She has received the HOPE scholar-ship, an academic and a leadership scholarship from CBU. Chelsea Beth Cutler is the daughter of Tony and Becky Cutler. She will graduate from Bolton High School with Honors and Distinction. In high school, she has participated in many activities including track, Men-tors of Bolton, National Honor Society, Spanish Honor Society, and band. In band Chelsea earned first chair flute and was selected by her peers to be class repre-sentative. Chelsea recently auditioned for both regional and state judges, and earned the highest Piccolo score for both All-West TN and All-State TN. Chelsea was the only piccolo player in the state, chosen to perform in Nashville at the Tennessee All-State band concert. Chelsea will attend the University of Tennessee in Knoxville this fall, and will march with the "Pride of the Southland" band. TiKayla Dismuke, daughter of Anthony and Kimberly Dismuke, sister of Toni and Tylin, and Aunt of Jaeden and Aaliyah. TiKayla will be graduating from Arlington High School on May 17,2016, at Bellvue Baptist. While attending Arlington Kayla was a participant in the Latin Honor Society, arlington track and worked at Cordova Cinema. Kayla has been running track for Shelby Youth Sports (SYS) since she was 6 yrs old, and has benefit-ted a scholarship from them. Her two options for Col-lege are Harding and University of Memphis . We're still deciding. TiKayla is interested in the medical field, and has shadowed an Optometrist, Pharmacist, and Hygien-ist. Kayla enjoys hanging out with her friends, shopping, and eating at her and her Dad's favorite place, Waffle House. She plans to pursue a career in the medical field , which offers an opportunity for service. Hayley Ford is the daughter of Joe and Leslie Ford. She is graduating as the salutatorian of Harding Acade-my of Memphis, where she has attended since pre-school. Hayley has taken many AP and honors courses and has received many awards for her outstanding aca-demic achievement such as winning the Bible student award since sophomore year. She has been selected as an Academic All-Star by the Commercial Appeal, a National Merit Commended student, a Duke TIP schol-ar, and a member of the National Honor Society. Her club involvement includes being a member of the Eng-lish National Honor Society, Math National Honor Soci-ety, Social Studies National Honor Society, Science National Honor Society, Harding Health Scholars, 30+ Club, Leadership for the Lord, Fellowship of Christian Athletes, and Bible Club. In addition to these clubs, she has volunteered at numerous organizations such as the Memphis Food Bank, Ronald McDonald House, Streets Ministries, Jacob's Ladder, and Give Kids the World

Village. Her mission trips include Slidell, Wentzville, Greer, and two trips to Honduras. Hayley also has many artistic accomplishments such as performing in The Lion, the Witch, and the Wardrobe and Creating the Dream. She has performed in the All West band, and in the orchestra for The Drowsy Chaperone and Cinderella. Her sports involvement throughout high school includes varsity cheer, STUNT, and varsity track. Hayley has tutored math through Harding since her sophomore year. Her involvement with the youth group includes multiple mission trips, organization of devotionals, Lads to Leaders speech winner, and or-ganization of small groups and mentoring programs. Hayley has also been involved in leadership at school such as being a class officer, being the senior class vice president, organizing a fundraiser to benefit peo-ple who lack access to clean water, organizing and speaking in many chapels, and participating in leader-ship conferences such as People to People and Junior National Young Leadership Conference. After gradua-tion, Hayley plans to attend college at Harding Univer-sity to become a Physician's Assistant and a better disciple of Christ. Seth Nicholas Key is graduating from Gateway Christian School. Seth has enjoyed learning to play guitar throughout his high school years. He will attend Freed-Hardeman University in the Fall. He is interest-ed in both Youth Ministry and Counseling. Taylor Montgomery is the daughter of Morris and JoAnn Montgomery. She is an International Baccalau-reate Diploma Candidate at Bolton High School and is currently ranked 3rd in her graduating class with a 4.62 GPA. Taylor has been a part of the Memphis Youth Symphony Program since 8th grade and, in 2014, was selected to attend the Tennessee Gover-nor’s School for the Arts. She has been involved with Spanish Honors Society, National Honors Society, and the Student Government Association. Taylor is a member of Bridge Builders, which promotes social justice throughout the Mid-South. She has volunteered with the American Heart Association and Youth Build for Habitat for Humanity. Also, Taylor is employed at Sonshine Learning Center in Arlington. This year, she was recognized by the Commercial Appeal as an Aca-demic All-Star in the General Scholarship category. She has received over $375,000 in academic scholar-ships, including the Marvin D. Mills Scholarship from Murray State University, the Quintard Award from Se-wanee: The University of the South, the Presidential Scholarship from Elon University, and the STRIDE Award from Smith College. Taylor was also accepted into Pepperdine University, Wellesley College, Scripps College, and the University of San Francisco. She does not yet know where she will attend school in the fall, but she hopes to become a Reproductive Endocri-nologist in the future.

Griffin Ritter Harding Academy

Griffin Ritter is the son of Steve Ritter. He is grad-uating from Harding Academy. Griffin has been a member of the Harding Junior and Senior Wind En-sembles as well as Jazz Band. He has been a mem-ber of the Harding Academy Varsity Football Team for 4 years, serving as Captain his Senior year. Currently, Griffin works at Yogurt Mountain and Panera Bread. Prior to Harding Academy High School, he attended Shelby County Schools and was active in band, foot-ball and chess club. Griffin plans to attend Harding University in the fall pursuing a major in Physical Ther-apy. Carrie Marie Ross is the daughter of Tom and Cathy Ross. She is a senior at Arlington High School. While at Arlington high school Carrie was a member of the Arlington High School marching band. In the band she was on the uniform crew and assistant band man-ager. At Arlington Carrie is a member of the beta club and the national honor Society and best buddies and the key club. Carrie is also a member of the Tipton County 4H horse club. Carrie was president of the 4H horse club for three years. She has received numer-ous course awards in Western halter and showman-ship and ranch horse riding. This year she will repre-sent the state of Tennessee at the Southern Regional 4H horse Championships where she will make the individual presentation for which she won first place at the state competition Carrie will receive the state of Tennessee Hope scholarship and the Tennessee promise scholarship. Carrie will attend Southwest Community College where she will receive an Associ-ates degree in radiology technology. Emma Ward is the daughter of Jason and Kelly Ward and sister of Aiden, Ivy, and Claire Ward. She will graduate from Arlington High School this May. She is the granddaughter of Mike & Prue McBride. Emma is a member of the Beta Club, National Art Honor So-ciety, 30+ Club (ACT), and Art Club. Throughout high school, she has been an active member of the Great Oaks youth group. Emma enjoys going on mission trips, and has been on one every summer since 7th grade. She enjoys painting, drawing, and spending time with her friends. Emma was awarded the Trustee Scholarship and Honors Scholarship at Freed Harde-man and will be a part of the Honors Program at the University. She will pursue a degree in Elementary Education. Keeley Baskin will be graduating from Lipscomb University with a Bachelor of Science in Nursing. She is a member of the Alpha Chi Honor Society and the Lipscomb School of Nursing Honor Society. Upon graduation she plans to return to Memphis and pursue a nursing career involving children. She will be a part of the residency program at LeBonheur Children’s Hospital working in Neuro.
