WHAT IS GRAPHIC DESIGN?

This is an art form and process of combining text and images to communicate messages to different audiences, through visual presentation.

TEXT In graphic designing, this is the typed,

printed or written portion of the art that

has letters, which may form words and

can be used to communicate a message.

Often times in graphic designing it

is done in a stylized format, so as to

enhance the art. In other cases the

text are used to create art work

known as typography.

be classified as the visual aid that

helps to represent the main idea of

the graphic item.

TYPES OF GRAPHIC DESIGN Expressive lettering .

Graphic design with a picture or with pictures only.

Graphic design with words only.

Graphics design with a combination of pictures and words.

Typography: is the art of

arranging text into a legible,

aesthetically pleasing and

design-appropriate layout.

The group of words that are combined

to create an image are normally

related. For example, a picture of a

bike is made up of words that are

associated with bikes; like the bike

parts.

EXPRESSIVE LETTERING

Expressive lettering can be

classified as the creative

expression of an artist ideas

by representing letters or

words in an artistic manner.

Expressive lettering is only

limited to the creator’s

imagination and are generally

expressed in two forms; that is

words expressed as pictures or

pictures forming words.

Create a Graphic Design art piece,

using the concept of Expressive

Lettering pictures forming words. For

example the word hot expressed with

elements associated with heat.

INSTRUCTIONSUse reference and plan your deign then place it on paper with pencil.

1. Do not apply pressure to the pencil while designing.

2. When the design is complete, retrace it with black ink pen (black jell ink pen preferably).

3. Wait a minute for the ink to dry, then erase the pencil mark.

4. Lastly, colour the art work neatly.

Complex: these type of graphic design items, generally has more writing and pictures and the designs are normally advance.

The text can be as long as a few sentences, for example in a card or as long as a novel.

Logo= this is a distinct design or mark that is generally used to identify a company or service of a specific group.

Poster = This is a visual item, usually printed with information to be displayed to a general audience. It is often use for a notice or advertisement. To get the audiences attention artist, normally design it with attractive art.

Depending on the type of poster, it should contain certain information. For example, if it is a event poster it should have: The name, date, location, admission and visuals that represent the event. What is optional includes refreshments, special guest, mode of conduct and a slogan.
