Graphite Parameters & Markets
• 101,000T of graphite consumed in batteries in 2014 - mainly in lithium-ions batteries ~70% synthetic graphite and 30% natural flake graphite – depends on cost and purity
• Batteries require >99.95% C; lithium-ion require higher purity 99.99% C. Impurities should be limited to 100-200ppm.
o Transportation Batteries: to power EVs; (significant growth)
o Stationary/Commercial/Utility Grid-Storage Batteries: Smart Energy (exponential growth)
o Consumer Electronics Batteries: Smart Devices (moderate growth)
