“The kids are able to breath deeply while they

play their instruments.”Tim Carlson, Band Director,

Grand Valley Schools

Grand Valley Local Schools consolidated five schools into one pre-K–12 facility 12 years ago, choosing nora® premium rubber flooring to cover classrooms, corridors, locker and weight rooms, stairwells and the cafeteria. The introduction of rubber flooring brought with it improved acoustics and indoor air quality. “The kids are able to breathe deeply while they play their instruments,” says Tim Carlson, band director. The floor also introduced a simpler maintenance regimen that replaced strippers, sealants and finishes with plain water and helps ensure a clean environment, which Superintendent William Nye says, “is always key to a good school system, good classrooms and a good, quality education.” Operating costs and workers’ compensation claims decreased, while slip resistance improved. Just as important, the floors continue to look great, regularly earning compliments from visitors to the facility.
