James Corbett Warren Memorial Council 5073 2400 Industrial Street, Burlington, Ontario L7P 1A5 905-335-5073 t email: [email protected]website: www.kofc5073.ca NEWSLETTER June 2018 GRAND KNIGHT’S MESSAGE — JOHN D’ADDARIO Brothers, The Holy Spirit has guided our journey over the past year and we have come to the end of another fraternal year. To this year’s executive, retiring, Thank you for your dedication;.your hard work has made a difference on the Council and your work is appreciated. Reflecting on the past year, I feel we have accomplished plenty. Per Supreme’s request, we have a Charitable Distribution Agreement in place. We are an award winning council. We won two awards for the Cash Calendar Project and one award for the work of the seniors. A Council first is that we had a Brother Knight and his family recognized in Ontario as the Family of the Year. Congratulation to the Vermeltfoort Family! We were also acknowledged for the first time in Burlington along with the three other councils for a community award in Burlington Best. Together we can make a difference in the Burlington Community Even though we have had successes in the past year, there have been struggles. We struggle with Brothers paying their dues on time. We explored many options and have made it extremely easy to pay dues from the luxury of your own home. Contact Financial Secretary Greg Huckle to find out more details. We need more help on our main fundraiser — Bingo. More details are in the newsletter. We are looking for a lead for the Cash Calendar Project. It was decided that we would be doing the project every two years and will be working on the calendar structure in early 2019. Our annual Golf tournament will be on September 20, 2018. Our new chair is Brother Greg Gilles, and he is looking for help and donations for the event. In the coming months we will have BBQs for Special Olympics, Breakfasts in the churches and events helping out Brothers from other Councils in Burlington. Time is precious, so please consider helping out and show the community at large why you joined the Knights of Columbus. On a personal note, I look forward to working with the new executive members coming in the 2018/2019 Fraternal Year. The new fraternal year starts on July 1. It is our 59th year of operation. Let’s continue to focus on the three pillars of our order — Charity, Unity and Fraternity —and strengthen our presence in our parishes, our council and our community. PRAYER IN TIME OF NEED
Lord Jesus, you came into the world to heal ourinfirmities and to endure our sufferings. You wentabout healing all and bringing comfort to those inpain and need.
We come before you now in this time of need askingthat you may be the source of our strength in body, courage in spirit and patience in pain.
May we join ourselves more closely to you on theCross and in your suffering that through them wemay draw our patience and hope.
Assist us and restore us to health so that unitedmore closely to our family, the Church, we may givepraise and honour to your name. Amen.

*Tuesday and Wednesday Bingos are held bi-weekly and alternate with each other.**Thursday Bingos are held only once a month.
The dates to cancel a bingo event (“6-month Bingos”) are April 1 and October 1.
If by this September this request does not happen, I, being the bingo project coordinator and reportingrepresentative, will consult with the present (approximately 14) bingo volunteers, in advising the Council 5073Grand Knight and recommending we take the first step of "effective January 2019 to cancel the Thursday bingoevent."
Also, since my backup reporting rep. has resigned from the Council, a new "backup" reporting rep. is urgentlyneeded. Again, full training will be provided by me. Finally, if the above requests do not take fruit, I, MarioColaianni, have no alternative but to resign from "all functions" of this project by June of 2019. The Grand Knightwill make the needed final decision.
If you need more information, feel free to contact me or the Grand Knight or any of the above-mentioned bingogroup leaders.
