DESCRIPTION

Tubular or cylindrical carbon structures measured in

nm.

Structure : single layer and multiple layer.

* Single layer: one graphene layer rolled.

* Multiple layer: lots of graphene layer rolled

concentrically.

It’s a alotropic shape of carbon.

Nanoshaped hexagonal units.

ORIGIN AND HISTORY

In 1991 the resercher Sumio Lijima (Japan)

descovered them.

While he was watching through the microscope he

found fibres deposited in a soot’s speck.

Due to its shape they were called Carbone Nanotubes.

They were multiple layer nanotubes.

Two years after that lijima and Donald Lijima created

one layer nanotubes.

PROPERTIES

Elasticity.

Thermal conductivity.

It’s one of the most hard material known.

Mechanic resistance.

Chemically motionless and biologically compatible.

They can be insulators and conductors.

USES

Solar cells and storage of hydrogen.

Production of automobile ligh pieces or space vehicles.

Transistors.

Production of rechargeables batteries, automobilepieces, sport articles, etc.

Production of lithium’s ion batteries.

To administer therapeutic heat, drugs and medicalsensors to attack carcinogenic cells.

SPACE ELEVATOR

NASA’s scientifics project.

It would be made of carbon nanotubes.

Due to its properties.

Through this elevator spacial ships would go into the

space.

Economic improvement in spacial missions.
