Homework PolicyHomework Policy5th grade homework policy is designed to be purposeful
and integral to the student’s learning, both aiding and reinforcing learning.
Should be done independently, with limited assistance from parents and classmates
It is the responsibility of the STUDENT to show all graded papers to his/her parents, and keep them informed of grades and progress.
Integrity and honesty are of the upmost importance and any student who has given evidence of copying work from another student, an earlier test or someone else’s writing (plagiarism) will result in a failing grade.

These standards also place a stronger focus on higher level thinking skills.

Procedures are similar to last year. Students will be required to fill out reading logs
daily for all steps that are completed both in and outside of school.
15 minutes of independent reading = 1 step The reading log will be similar to the summer
log. Students will also be required to identify the genre of the books they read.
It is very important for students to read a variety of genres in order to gain experience applying the skills learned in class to different texts. Gaining experience in different genres will also help students in their writing.
