When you are finished writing, revising, and editing, check your work one last time before writing your final copy. PROOFREAD your final copy.
EXERCISE 1: Read and analyze the TOPIC, PROMPT, and THINK ABOUT sections.

PROMPT: Write a narrative to describe to your class your favorite special event and the way it took place.
THINK ABOUT:
As you see pictures of special events as part of this test, think about the prompt and prepare to choose an event to write about.

having a birthday today.” Mudge wagged his tail, rolled over, and snored.
“Mudge,” said Henry, “wake up. I’m having a birthday today.” Mudge wagged his tail,
rolled to the other side, and snored some more.
“Mudge,” said Henry, “birthday cake.” Mudge opened one eye.
“Ice cream,” said Henry. Mudge opened the other eye.
“And lots and lots of crackers,” said Henry. Mudge jumped up. He shook Henry’s hand.

looked pretty good.
