  • Approaching God1 John 5:5-8

    5 Who is the one who overcomes the world, but he who believes that Jesus is the Son of God? 6 This is the One who came by water and blood, Jesus Christ; not with the water only, but with the water and with the blood. It is the Spirit who testifies, because the Spirit is the truth. 7 For there are three that testify: 8 the Spirit and the water and the blood; and the three are in agreement.

  • Glorifying GodIsaiah 6:1-7

    God is Holy1 In the year of King Uzziah’s death I saw the Lord sitting on a throne,

    lofty and exalted, with the train of His robe filling the temple. 2 Sera-phim stood above Him, each having six wings: with two he covered his face, and with two he covered his feet, and with two he flew. 3 And one called out to another and said,

    “Holy, Holy, Holy, is the Lord of hosts,The whole earth is full of His glory.”

    4 And the foundations of the thresholds trembled at the voice of him who called out, while the temple was filling with smoke. 5 Then I said,

    “Woe is me, for I am ruined!Because I am a man of unclean lips,And I live among a people of unclean lips;For my eyes have seen the King, the Lord of hosts.”

    6 Then one of the seraphim flew to me with a burning coal in his hand, which he had taken from the altar with tongs. 7 He touched my mouth with it and said, “Behold, this has touched your lips; and your iniquity is taken away and your sin is forgiven.”

    My Soul Finds Rest in God Alone

    My soul finds rest in God alone,My Rock and my salvation;

    A fortress strong against my foes,And I will not be shaken.

    Though lips may bless and hearts may curse,And lies like arrows pierce me,

    I’ll fix my heart on righteousness,I’ll look to Him who hears me.

    O praise Him, hallelujah,My Delight and my reward;Everlasting, never failing,

    My Redeemer, my God.

    Find rest, my soul, in God aloneAmid the world’s temptations;When evil seeks to take a hold

    I’ll cling to my salvation.Though riches come and riches go,

    Don’t set your heart upon them;The fields of hope in which I sow

    Are harvested in heaven.

    I’ll set my gaze on God aloneAnd trust in Him completely;

    With every day pour out my soulAnd He will prove His mercy.

    Though life is but a fleeting breath,A sigh too brief to measure,

    My King has crushed the curse of deathAnd I am His forever.
