INTERNATIONAL POLITICAL SCIENCE ASSOCIATION 2016 CONFERENCEISTANBUL, TURKEY JULY 23-28, 2016

The 2016 IPSA World Congress will be a timely occasion on which to refocus the attention of political scientists on issues of redistribution and recognition in all their complexity. These are issues confronted by political actors all over the world and to which political science can bring important insights. It is an opportunity to once again demonstrate the relevance of political science to political practice.

The theme of the Istanbul Congress will build on previous themes of IPSA World Congresses concerning democ-racy, globalisation and the challenges of contemporary governance. We look forward to the insights that will be shared at the Congress by those working in all areas of political science, including international political economy, public policy, political institutions, political theory, political behaviour, social movement and regional studies, migration, race and gender politics.

Internship Opportunities

JOINT FORCES STAFF COLLEGE NORFOLK, VA

To our fellow Virginia Tidewater Consortium Members:

This is to let you know that the Joint Forces Staff College has identified its internship requirements for the Sum-mer 2015 semester. As usual we would like to make the position descriptions available to the students of the Tidewater Consortium Members. Twenty nine students from local area colleges and universities have partici-pated in the Joint Forces Staff College internship program so far this academic year.

Program Information for Graduate and undergraduate interns from local colleges and universities typically work at JFSC for one semester, performing various duties that satisfy college needs and provide valuable expe-rience to the interns. Some receive college credit; others are motivated by the experience they gain. In addition to satisfying the needs of JFSC and the interns, this program is also a key element in our outreach to the local community.

Many interns have served as research assistants in support of the core curriculum, focus studies (electives), and our War gaming model. Others have worked in technical areas, where their current skills have proven invalu-able in duties such as programming, PC troubleshooting, and database administration. The ultimate benefits of a JFSC internship program are many: assistance to faculty and staff in a variety of areas, some combination of credit and experience for the students, and significant outreach to local colleges and universities. Your assis-tance in informing students about these opportunities is greatly appreciated.

The positions run from September - November 2015. Detailed description of the positions have been sent via GPIS list serv or contact Jamila Glover for descriptions.
