The estimate of Foreign Exchange Earnings (FEEs) through tourism for the Quarter were ₹48,572 Crores (Provisional) as compared to ₹42,447 Crores in the corresponding period in 2017, registering a growth of 14.4 %. In US$ terms, the estimate of FEEs stood at US $6.933 billion (Provisional) during July-September, 2018 as compared to US $6.602 billion in 2017 for the same period registering a growth of 5.0 %. The FTAs on e- Tourist Visa were 4,67,678 during July-September, 2018 as compared to 3,49,574 during July-September, 2017 registering a growth of 33.8 %. Schemes/ Initiatives Under SWADESH DARSHAN Scheme, three projects namely (i) Development of Eco Circuit: Dalma- Chandil- Getalsud- Betla national park- Mirchaiya- Netarhat in Jharkhand for an amount of Rs.52.72 Crore, (ii) Development of North East circuit: Surma Cherra- Unakoti- Jampui Hills- Gunabati-Bhunaneshwari- Matabari- Neermahal- Boxanagar- Chotta khola- Pilak- Avangchaarra in Tripura for an amount of Rs.65.00 Crore and (iii) Development of Heritage Circuit: Anandpur Sahib – Fatehgarh Sahib – Chamkaur Sahib – Ferozpur – Amritsar – Khatkar Kalan – Kalanour - Patiala in Punjab for an amount of Rs.99.95 Crore have been sanctioned in August, 2018 and one project on Development of Jewar-Dadri-Sikandrabad-Noida- Khurja-Banda in Uttar Pradesh has been sanctioned for an amount of Rs.14.52 Crore in July, 2018.

TOURISM- A FIGURATIVE STATUS
The Foreign Tourist Arrivals (FTAs) in India during
July-September, 2018 were 2.31 million
(Provisional) as compared to 2.22 million during the
same period in 2017, showing a growth of 4.1%.

Schemes/ Initiatives
Under SWADESH DARSHAN Scheme, three
projects namely (i) Development of Eco Circuit:

Rs.52.72 Crore, (ii) Development of North East
circuit: Surma Cherra- Unakoti- Jampui Hills-
Gunabati-Bhunaneshwari- Matabari- Neermahal-
Boxanagar- Chotta khola- Pilak- Avangchaarra in
Tripura for an amount of Rs.65.00 Crore and (iii)
Development of Heritage Circuit: Anandpur Sahib –
Fatehgarh Sahib – Chamkaur Sahib – Ferozpur –
Amritsar – Khatkar Kalan – Kalanour - Patiala in
Punjab for an amount of Rs.99.95 Crore have been
sanctioned in August, 2018 and one project on
Development of Jewar-Dadri-Sikandrabad-Noida-
Khurja-Banda in Uttar Pradesh has been sanctioned
for an amount of Rs.14.52 Crore in July, 2018.
Important Events
National Tourism Award
The Ministry of Tourism organized National Tourism
Awards for the year 2016-17 on 27th September,
2018 at Vigyan Bhawan, New Delhi. A total of 77
awards under different categories were given away by
the Hon'ble Minister of State for Tourism(IC).
On this occasion, the Minister launched the
‘Incredible India Mobile App’ and the “Incredible
India Tourist Facilitators Certification” programme.
The certification programme is an Online Learning
Management System which aims at creating skilled
manpower to work as tourist facilitators. The
Incredible India Mobile App showcases India as a
holistic destination, revolving around major
experiences, such as spirituality, heritage, adventure,
culture, yoga, wellness and more.
International Buddhist Conclave-2018
The Hon’ble President of India, Shri Ram Nath
Kovind inaugurated the International Buddhist
Conclave-2018 (IBC-2018) organized by Ministry of
Tourism on the theme “Buddha Path—The Living
Heritage” in collaboration with the State
Governments of Maharashtra, Bihar and Uttar
Pradesh from 23rd to 26th August, 2018 at Vigyan
Bhawan, New Delhi. This was followed by a
presentation from Ministry of Tourism and State
Governments and an Investors Summit. Panel
discussion on ‘Role of Living Buddhist Heritage in the
Contemporary Society’ and a B2B meeting between
Foreign and Indian Tour Operators was also
undertaken. During the inaugural session of the
Conclave, the Ministry launched its
website www.landofbuddha.in and a new 60 second
film showcasing the Buddhist sites in the country.
The aim of IBC-2018 was to showcase and project the
Buddhist Heritages in India and cultivate friendly ties
with countries and communities interested in
Buddhism. The event was followed by site visit to
Ajanta (Maharashtra), Rajgir, Nalanda and Bodhgaya
(Bihar) and Sarnath (Uttar Pradesh). Japan was the
‘Partner Country at IBC-2018.
Paryatan Parv
The Ministry of Tourism with the assistance of other
Central Ministries, State Governments/Union
Territory Administrations etc. celebrated Paryatan
Parv, 2018 at National Level. The Parv was
celebrated from 16th to 27th September, 2018
during which more than 3200 activities in 32
States/UTs were organized to create awareness about
the importance of Tourism. The Delhi leg of Paryatan
the aim to encourage Indians to visit various tourist
destinations in the country and also to spread the
message of ‘Tourism for All’. Various State theme
pavilions, craft stalls, food stalls, cookery
demonstrations etc. were centre of attraction. In
addition, cultural programmes by different States and
North Zone Culture Centre were organized every
evening. Various Centrals Ministries and State
Governments were awarded at the closing ceremony
of the Paryatan Parv on 27th September, 2018 at
Rajpath Lawns, New Delhi.
Swachhta Hi Seva & Swachhta Pakhwada
campaigns
Ministry of Tourism observed ‘Swachhta Hi Sewa’
Campaign from 15th September, 2018 to 2nd
October, 2018. Cleanliness activities were
undertaken at various tourism sites across the country
with active participation from local communities,
stakeholders, regional offices of the Ministry of
Tourism and the State Governments.
Ministry also celebrated ‘Swachhta Pakhwada’ on
daily basis from 16th to 30th September, 2018. As
part of this, activities were undertaken by the officials
of the Ministry of Tourism, Institutes of Hotel
Management and Institutes of Tourism & Travel
Management at different sites/locations across the
country. National level quiz and Essay competition on
‘Swachhta’ was organized for the students of IHMs.
India Tourism Mart
The first edition of the India Tourism Mart 2018 was
organized by the Federation of Associations in Indian
Tourism and Hospitality (FAITH) with the support of
Ministry of Tourism and State Governments/Union
Territory Administrations from 16th to 18th
September, 2018 at Hotel Ashok, Chanakyapuri,
New Delhi.
India Tourism Mart was an attempt to provide a
national platform to different tourism stakeholders
for interacting with foreign buyers under one
umbrella. This Mart provided an opportunity to the
Indian sellers to conduct business and generate
successful partnerships in the sector of travel and
tourism.
Promotional Activities
The Hon'ble Minister of State for
Tourism(IC) led a delegation consisting of
officials and tour operators for conducting
Incredible India Road Shows in different cities
in China viz, Beijing, Guangzhou, Wuhan and
Shanghai for strengthening the tourism
between both countries from 28th August to
1st September, 2018.
Additional Director General (MR), Ministry
of Tourism attended the first meeting of
Joint Working Group (JWG) in the sphere of
tourism between India & Uzbekistan held at
Tashkent from 16th to 18th August, 2018 on
the sidelines of the 11th meeting of Inter-
Governmental Commission (IGC) between
India and Uzbekistan. In the meeting, both
countries agreed to jointly promote tourism
in the field of Healthcare, IT, Cruise,
Adventure Tourism, Textile, Mining and
Trade.
Ministry of Tourism attended the 2nd Joint
Working Group (JWG) Meeting on tourism
cooperation between India & Nepal held
at Kathmandu on 06th July 2018. In the
meeting, both the countries agreed to jointly
promote each other’s historical and cultural
tourism circuits including adventure tourism.
Other promotional Activities
Global Media Campaign 2018-19
continued on various Television Channels
with Wellness and Cuisine films.
Social Media Campaign promoting the
new film on Wellness and Cuisine
launched in the International markets on
Twitter and YouTube.
Photo Contest – ‘Musafir Hoon Yaaron’
launched on Doordarshan, on the occasion
of Paryatan Parv.
‘Do You Know’ Campaign to propagate
interesting facts about monuments in the
country released on Doordarshan.
The Buddhist film “India –The Land of
Buddha” is being used in the ongoing
Campaign of the Ministry in the
International markets.
Domestic Television Campaign
commenced on Doordarshan and Private
Channels promoting Iconic sites of the
country.
Two new promotional films produced by
the Ministry of Tourism on Luxury
(Maharani of Manhattan) and Wellness
(The Reincarnation of Mr. & Mrs. Jones)
were launched on International Television
Channels and Social Media on the 1st and
23rd July 2018 respectively. The film
“Maharani of Manhattan” had a total of
20.8 million views on Social Media in
three weeks, whereas the film “The
Reincarnation of Mr. & Mrs. Jones” has
had 14.6 million views on social media in
11 days.
ACTIVITIES OF INDIA TOURISM
OFFICES OVERSEAS India Tourism, Singapore supported Embassy of
India, Bangkok to organise Indian Food Festival at
Koh Samui and Chiang Mai in Thailand from 07th to
11th August, 2018 and 15th to 19th August, 2018,
respectively to promote Indian cuisine among the
Thai people.
India Tourism, New York took part in "India Day
Parade" organised by Federation of Indian
Association (FIA) on 18th August, 2018 at Madison
Avenue. This Parade is claimed to be the largest
outside India Parade considering that Indian
Independence Day is celebrated all over the World.
India Tourism London initiated campaign at two
London underground tube stations namely St. John’s
wood and Oval tube stations which are closer to
Lords and Oval cricket grounds during the India
England test match series to attract audience during
12 July to 14 August and 27 August to 12 September
respectively
India Tourism, Frankfurt conducted Joint Promotion
with agency Mosaic Tourism Consulting GmbH for
organizing B 2 B sessions on 23rd Aug in Munich. The
session was attended by a total of 70 participants.
India Tourism, Dubai organized a weekend tourism
promotion at Deerfield Mall, Abu Dhabi from 22-24,
August, 2018 (Eid Holidays). Information along with
Incredible promotional kits were distributed.
Other activities of India Tourism Offices
Overseas
India Tourism Offices Overseas Participated in the
following events:
India Tourism, Paris in association with
Embassy of India, Paris participated in
Diplomatic Garden Party held on the
occasion of French National Day i.e. on
14th July in Pavilion Royale, Paris. India
Tourism, Paris displayed standees and
screened Incredible India TVC’s. The office
also distributed maps, brochures, posters,
leaflets etc. to the participants.
India Tourism, Singapore participated in
Myanmar International Tourism Expo-2018
at Tatmadaw Exhibition Hall, Yangon from
20th - 22nd July, 2018.
India Tourism New York participated in the
Global Travel Marketplace (GTM) at Fort
Lauderdale, Florida from 12th to 14th July,
2018.
India Tourism Tokyo participated in the 21st
Busan International Travel Fair from 7th- 10th
September, 2018 and JATA Tourism Expo
Japan 2018 from 20th to 23rd September,
2018 at Tokyo Big Sight.

India Tourism- South
The Hon'ble Minister of State for Tourism(IC)
participated in the Foundation Stone laying for
New International Cruise Terminal at Willington
Island, Kochi on 28th July 2018.
Members from Tourism Fraternity, Media,
Officials of Department of Tourism, Govt. of
Kerala and Assistant Director, Indiatourism
Chennai participated in the event.
Indiatourism Hyderabad participated in the Travel
& Tourism Fair (TTF 2018) from 13th to 14th
July 2018 at Hyderabad International Convention
Centre (HICC), Novotel
Indiatourism won the best print promotional
material award successively for the fourth time
during the event.
Indiatourism, Chennai organized Paryatan Parv
‘Heritage Walk’ on 19th September 2018
Meenakshi Amman Temple in Madurai.
About 200 participants including college
students, staff of Madurai Kamaraj University,

participated in the heritage walk.
Indiatourism, Chennai in association with U.S.
Consulate General, Chennai organized two
Interactive Sessions on “Sustainable Tourism” on
18th September 2018 wherein Students of IHM,
SRM IHM, Stella Maris College and Madras
Christian College participated.
The Vice President of India, Shri M. Venkaiah
Naidu inaugurated the Swadesh Darshan Scheme
project on “Development of Kakinada - Hope
Island - Coringa Wildlife Sanctuary - Passarlapudi
- Aduru - S Yanam – Kotipally and Development
of Nellore- Pulikat Lake - Ubblamadugu Water
Falls - Nelapattu -Kothakoduru- Mypadu -

India Tourism North East
Indiatourism, Guwahati in collaboration with
Dotara Sanskritik Samaj organized North East
Cultural Festival on 14thJuly,2018 in Pragjyotish
(ITA) Cultural Complex, Guwahati. In this
programme, classical dance, folk dance of North
East and other parts of the country were
showcased.
The Hon'ble Minister of State for Tourism(IC)
attended the inauguration of the first project under
Swadesh Darshan Scheme on “Development of
Tourist Circuit in Manipur-Imphal-Moirang-
Khongjom-Moreh.
Indiatourism Guwahati celebrated World Tourism
Day at Srimanta Sankardev Kalakhetra Auditorium
on 27.09.2018. Students of IHM, Guwahati
performed Fashion Show depicting the traditional
attire of North East Region.
India Tourism West
Indiatourism Mumbai alongwith Mumbai Port
Trust organised the 2nd Sensitisation/ Training
Programme on 06.07.2018 in Mumbai for the
Stakeholders of Cruise Tourism. Programme was
aimed at training officials of Mumbai Port Trust,
CISF particularly women officers, Shipping
companies and Tour Operators.
Indiatourism Mumbai participated in the India
International Travel Exhibition held in Raipur,
Chhatisgarh from 29th June to 2nd July, 2018.
Gujarat, being the paired State of Chattisgarh
under “Ek Bharat Shreshtha Bharat” was showcased
through its images in Raipur.
Indiatourism Mumbai organized Mini Indian
Bazaar at Mumbai Port from 07.09.2018 to
09.09.2018 during the arrival of the Luxury Liner
Viking Orion which carried 950 passengers and
1000 crew members. During the event India’s
varied art, craft, textiles, performing art etc was
showcased. The passengers on board thoroughly
enjoyed the interactive activities arranged at the
pier, the live performances, puppet shows,
pottery and the fortune teller were major
attractions of the Bazaar.
The ‘Swachhta Pakhwada’ was observed from
16th to 30th September, 2018 with an aim to
intensify the focus on cleanliness and create an
environment of cleanliness across the country in
the spirit of Jan Andolan. Swacchta Awareness
Campaign and Drive were organized in various
cities in Western and Central Region.
Indiatourism, Mumbai organized “Paryatan Parv”
by organizing cultural programs, Classical - semi
classical - folk dances, art and craft display etc.
This event aimed at showcasing variety of Indian
art, craft, cuisine and culture at one place. Around
100 painting entries received as part of “My India-
Clean India” painting contest from 11 Kendriya
Vidyalayas in Mumbai were also showcased during
the event.
India Tourism East
Indiatourism Kolkata participated in the Travel &
Tourism Fair (TTF) Kolkata from 6th-8th July,
2018 at Netaji Indoor Stadium. During the event
Incredible India publicity materials/souvenirs
were distributed to tourist/visitors. Director
General, Ministry of Tourism along with RD
(East) also visited the Indiatourism Counter in the
fair and met the tourism stakeholders.
Indiatourism Kolkata organized a Sensitization
Workshop on Rural Tourism and various
Regulatory Schemes of the Ministry of Tourism on
21st July 2018 in collaboration with Local
stakeholders at Sittong, Kurseong, Darjeeling to
motivate the private hotels, guest houses and tour
operators etc. to get their organization
classified/approved with the Ministry of Tourism
to ensure delivery of quality services & facilities to
the domestic as well as foreign tourists.
Indiatourism Bhubaneswar participated in
Swachhata Pakhwada from 15 Sept – 02 Oct, 2018
by conducting Swachhata Drive at Paryatan
Bhawan Bhubaneswar, Cleanliness Drive at
Lingaraj Temple Bhubaneswar, Sensitization
Programme for villagers at Heritage Artists Village
Raghurajpur, Swachhata Abhiyan at Bhanja Kala
Mandap, Nukkad Natak on Swachh Bharat at
Udaygiri-Khandagiri Caves etc.
Indiatourism Patna in association with Tourism
Department and Stakeholders organized a
Heritage Walk from Patna Museum to Gol Ghar,
Patna as a part of Paryatan Parv celebration
wherein around 250 participants joined.
India Tourism North
India Tourism participated in Hangzhou Tourism
Road show organized on 29.08.18 at New Delhi in
order to promote tourism in China’s Hangzhou
city and to enhance bilateral relations between
India and China. Addressing the gathering,
Hangzhou city mayor XU Liyi said both Delhi and
Hangzou had historical and civilizational links.
IHM, Lucknow organized Assamese Food Festival under “Ek Bharat Shresth Bharat” scheme during which delicious recipes of Assamese cuisine were prepared and displayed.
