The Gourmet Festival• Gourmet Festival exists since 2005 and it is organized by Sziget since 2011 in

the „Millenáris Park”, Budapest. The event’s aim is to bring the Hungarian top quality gastronomy closer to wider audience

• Primary target group: 25-45 years old, category „A-B”, from Budapest and Pest County.

• 3 days event (Friday-Saturday-Sunday), which is preceded by a professional day on Thursday, where first the exhibitors, business partners, journalists can discover the exciting supply.

• Gourmet Festival stands out from the traditional gastronomic festivals with its unique feature that presents the top Hungarian gastronomy, not only with drinks (wines), but with food of most excellent restaurants, handicraft products, coffee shops, confectioneries and gourmet shops.

The number of visitors proves the Festival’s success; 14 000 visitors came within 3 days in 2016.

Why is Gourmet Festival unique?

• It is the only gastro-event in Hungary, where the food of top 50 restaurants of the

country can be tasted in one place at the same time. It offers Hungary's best flavors

through metropolitan and rural restaurants, high-quality wineries, breweries and

distilleries, confectioneries and exciting gastro-manufactories – and from all of them the

best.

• Premium event: visitors are mostly with „A” income status, high ratio of visitors

has higher education and most of the visitors are employees – mainly managers.

• The exclusive location, Budapest Millenáris Park, suites perfectly this premium target

group: high standard installations, beautiful environment, intimate atmosphere and

stage are easy to approach.

New program venue: Gourmet workshop

A new program element started in 2016, the Gourmet workshop was available with prior registration. During one and and a half hour long sessions of mini cooking classes smaller groups of visitors could acquire the art of fish and meat processing and the preparing of barbecue and cooked vegetables conducted by renowned chefs.

How do you rate the programs wich were on the stage?

Almost half of the visitors heard about Gourmet workshop, where participants could learn for example what is a creative baker like, how cooked vegetables will be reinvented, what is needed for a proper BBQ, how the fish shall be prepared, what the sheaf shall be decorated with and what is the truffel.The Gastro Stage remains a popular program venue.

SummaryThis year two raw material moved the imagination of master chefs as a new concept – the fish and venison. The reason is that before Gourmet the sterlet and red deer were the two basic material of the world’s most famous chef competition – Bocuse d’Or – which was also held in Budapest in Europe. This is not the only common point of the Chef competition and Gourmet: the farewell event of Bocuse d’Or – the Breakfast of Champions – was held on the first day of Gourmet, where the profession could greet the winner of the European final - Tamás Széll – for the first time. Of course beside the best restaurants in Budapest and the dishes made of fish and game much more were added to the palette: stylish rural restaurants, selected metropolitan street-food places, new wave confectionaries, the best Asian flavors and numerous presentations made the event complete.
