Apply for a PIN online at www.pin.ed.gov. This will allow you to
sign your FAFSA application electronically. It saves you weeks of
time!
Complete and submit your FAFSA application at
www.fafsa.ed.gov.
Check your email for notifications about FAFSA. To give us your
email address, login to Access, go to the Personal Information tab,
click on "View/Update Preferred Email Address," and enter the email
address you wish USU to use.
Accept your award. Loans and work-study funds require
acceptance. Grants are automatically accepted for you. You should
accept any student loans or work-study you want. You will be
awarded aid as a full-time student (12 credits), but your aid will
automatically adjust with your enrollment. Student loans require
that you sign a promissory note and complete loan counseling.
Pay your remaining balance before the payment deadline. If any
balance remains, your classes will be dropped.
Receive remaining funds through direct deposit or mail. You must
login to Access to sign up for direct deposit. Under Personal
Information you will find an option to Update Direct Deposit. If
you do not have direct deposit, checks are sent to your mailing
address once school begins.
Apply early! Some aidlike work-study, supplemental grants, and
Perkins Loans, are generally available only to the earliest
applicants. To have the best chance, complete your application
early in February for the upcoming school year.
Transfer Students:If you attend a school other than Utah State
during the awarded year, you must notify the Financial Aid Office
at www.usu.edu/finaid before you receive aid here. Do not list
other schools that are part of a financial aid consortium agreement
you have arranged with us.
Getting married? If you apply before you marry, we cannot change
your status until the following school year. In most cases, married
students are eligible for more aid than dependents. Just remember,
your marital status is permanent for the year.
Keep your mailing address current!Financial aid checks and other
important correspondence are sent to your mailing address on
record. Keep your mailing address current (even in the summer)
through Access at www.usu.edu/myusu or by calling the Financial Aid
Office.
