INTRODUCTION
Google glass (styled as GLΛSS) is a type of
wearable technology with an optical head-mounted
display(OHMD).
Google glass also known as Project glass is a research
and development program by Google.
The project glass was started by Babak Parviz.

Google started selling Google Glass in the USA on
April 15,2014 for a limited period of time for $1500.
Google Glass displays information in a smart phone-
like hands-free format. Wearers communicate with the
Internet via natural language voice commands.
These glasses will have the combined features of
virtual reality and augmented reality.

Virtual Reality
Virtual Reality is a term that applies to computer-simulated
environments that can simulate physical presence in places in
the real world as well as in imaginary worlds.
Virtual reality is often used to describe a wide variety of
applications commonly associated with highly visual,3D
environment.

5
Augmented Reality
Augmented Reality is a live, direct or indirect, view of
a physical , real-world environment whose elements
are generated sensory input such as sound, video,
graphics or GPS data.

7
Wearable Computing
Any computer-powered devices or equipment that can
be worn by a user including clothing, watches, glasses,
shoes etc.
The more advanced wearable computing devices can
enable the wearers to take and view pictures or video,
read text message, browse
the web etc.

Ambient Intelligence
Ambient intelligence(AmI) refers to electronicenvironments that are sensitive and responsive to thepresence of people.
Smart Clothing Smart clothing is the next generation of apparel. It is a
combination of new fabric technology and digitaltechnology.
Smart clothing is still under development and manyproblem accrued due to absence of standardizedtechnology.

9
Eye Tap Technology
A device that is worn infront of the eye that acts as a
camera to record the scene available to the eye as well
as display to superimpose a computer-generated
imagery on the original scene available to the eye.
Smart Grid Technology Smart grid technology is a electrical grid that uses
information and communication technology to gather
and act on information.

4G Technology
This is the fourth generation of cell phone mobile
communication standards.
It is a successor of 3G. It provides ultra-broadband
Internet access.

Android OS Technology
Android is Linux based operating system for mobile
devices such as smart phones, tablets.
Google released the code
under Apache License.

DESIGN
Video display
We have a small video display that is used to display
the pop up hands free information.
School Of Engineering, CUSAT
14
CameraIt has a front facing video camera with which we can takephotos and video.
Button
A single button on side of the frame
sophisticates the glasses to work with
the physical touch input.

Speaker
Google glass are designed to be hand free wearable
device that can be used to make or receive calls .So
speaker is also designed by the ear.
Microphone
A microphone is used to take voice
command of wearers.

FEATURES
1. Start Tap
To start using Google Glass, you tap the frame of the
glasses and say a command “OK GLASS”.

18
2.Take a picture
Here, there is no fumbling around looking for the
camera icon. We’re not sure at this point whether
anything on the glass frame lets the subject knowthey’re being photographed.

19
3.Record video
Same goes with video .With Google Glass , you can
record what you see without moving a finger.
School Of Engineering, CUSAT
20
4.Share what you see
Now this what you call serious sharing-actually
sharing what you see with your friends.
School Of Engineering, CUSAT
21
5.Find your way
It has its own super GPS navigating device to guide
you along the right direction.
School Of Engineering, CUSAT
22
6.Translate
Google Glass will able to read and translate any text
you see , which makes them an absolute boon for
travelers.

23
7.Your info butler
One of the key features of Google Glass is their
awareness of where you are and what you’re looking
at , at all times.

24
WORKING
Google Glass is similar to a computer including
CPU , sensors such as GPS , speakers , microphone ,
battery .
To these we are adding tiny projector and a prism.
These are used to redirect the light into your retina.
Each component is neatly embedded in the frame ,to
keep device as light as possible.
We need a good broadband signal is essential.

ADVANTAGES
Easy to wear and use.
Sensitive and responsive to the presence of people.
Fast access to maps ,videos, documents ,chats and
much more.
A useful technology for all kind of handicapped
/disable people.
A spectacle based computer to reside directly on your
eyes rather than in pouch or pocket.

28
DISADVANTAGES
Can be easily broken or damaged . Users will have a
tough time taking care of it.
It may lead to accidents while driving.
Can be used only in metro cities.
The resource that running these glasses is still
unknown , whether battery or solar energy.
Privacy of people may breach with new glasses.

29
CONCLUSION
Google Glasses are basically a wearable computers that
use the evolving familiar technologies.
Hands free technology by Google.
Google Glass is fashionable and frame colors are
available in gray ,orange ,black ,white ,light blue .
