WHAT IS GOOGLE DOCS?● Google Docs is a web-based program allows users to create and

edit documents online while collaborating with other users in real-time.

● Word processor, spreadsheets, presentation program, collaborative software

● Written in JavaScript● Operating systems: Web, iOS,

Android, Chrome● Available in 53 languages

● Initially released on March 9, 2006 ● Originated from two products: Writely and

Google Spreadsheets● Sam Schillace built Writely in 2005, a

web-based text editor, which Google acquired in 2006

● Overtime more features were added such as the presentation program, mobile apps, and compatibility with other document formats

● Upload a Word document and convert it to a Google document● Add flair and formatting to your documents by adjusting margins,

spacing, fonts, and colors● Invite other people to collaborate on a document with you, giving them

edit, comment or view access● Collaborate online in real time and chat with other collaborators ● View your document's revision history and rollback to any previous

version● Download a Google document to your desktop as a Word, OpenOffice,

RTF, PDF, HTML or zip file● Translate a document to a different language● Email your documents to other people as attachments

● In Individual documents cannot exceed 1 GB

● Embedded images cannot exceed 2 MB each.

● Files uploaded, but not converted to Google Docs format, may be up to 5 TB in size.

●● Documents: 1,024,000 characters, regardless of the number of

pages or font size. Uploaded document files that are converted to Google Docs format can not be larger than 50 MB.
