Google Chrome Language Translation Tutorial for the FSPCA Lead Instructor Application

I. Purpose of Tutorial

The purpose of this tutorial is to instruct foreign FSPCA Lead Instructor Applicants how to configure their Google Chrome Browser so that they may translate the FSPCA Lead Instructor Application Form into their native language, and then submit that application for scoring.

1. Click on the “Customize and control Google Chrome” Icon

II. Procedure for Activating the Chrome Language Translation Function To Create A Lead Instructor Application

The procedure below demonstrates how to configure the Chrome language translation function for Spanish speaking Chrome users. However, by following the instructions listed below, a non-English speaking Chrome user may select their native language for translation by Google Chrome, provided that Chrome supports that language.

2. Click on “Settings”

3. Scroll to the bottom of the Page and click on “Advanced”

4. Scroll down, and click on the down arrow adjacent to “Languages”

Click Here

If you wanted to make “Spanish” your native language, then you would make sure that “Spanish” is displaying here. If Spanish is not displaying as the primary language, complete the steps listed in Step #5. If Spanish is displaying as the primary language, skip to Step #6.

5. If “Spanish,” is not displayed, then take the follow steps listed below:

b. Click on “Add languages”

c. Click on “Spanish – Española,” and then click on “Add”

Select “Spanish,” and click on “Add”

d. Click on the “More Actions” Icon

Click on “More actions” adjacent from “Spanish”

Click on “Display Google Chrome in this Language”

e. Click on the box, “Display Google Chrome in this language”

f. Click on the “Relaunch” button

Click on “Relaunch”

g. Spanish should now be the Browser’s primary language

Make sure that Spanish is the primary language

6. Activate the “Offer to Translate Pages” Function

a. Click on the button adjacent from “Offer to translate pages that aren’t in a language you read”

Click on the “Offer to translate pages …” button

b. When the “offer to Translate Pages ….” Function is activated, the button turns blue

Blue button indicates the “Offer to translate pages …” function has been activated

7. Create a FSPCA Community User Account

a. Access the FSPCA Community at https://fspca.force.com/FSPCA/s/

If any part of the webpage, including webpage forms, are not translated to Spanish, then right click, and select “Translate to Spanish.”

Click on “Create Account”

Translate to Spanish

Right click anywhere on the webpage, and then select “Translate to Spanish.” You may have to repeat this process multiple times when completing individual webpage forms.

7. Create a FSPCA Community User Account

b. Click on “Login”

Click “Login”

c. Click on “Create an Account”

c. Enter your First Name, Last Name, and Email Address.

d. If your account has been successfully created, you will receive a “Now, Check Your Email” notification

e. Login to your email account and click on the email message, “Food Safety Prevent. Welcome to the FSPCA Community!”

Click on this Welcome Email from the FSPCA Community to set your password

f. Click on the “Login and set password” link

g. Enter and set your password

Enter and confirm your password

Click on “Change Password”

h. You are now logged in to the FSPCA Community

If your name appears in the upper left corner, you have successfully logged into the FSPCA Community.

8. Create a Lead Instructor Application by Clicking on “LI Application.”

9. Click on the “New Application” button

Click on “New Application”

10. Click the box associated with the type of application that you wish to submit

Note: If any part of the webpage, including webpage forms, are not translated to Spanish, then right click, and select “Translate to Spanish.”

Click on “App for Human Food Courses” if you wish to apply to become a FSPCA Lead Instructor of Human Food Courses

10. Complete the first part of the lead instructor Application in Spanish, and click “Save” when the application is completed.

Click on “Save” when finished with the application

Note: If any part of the webpage, or forms, are not translated to Spanish, then right click, and select “Translate to Spanish.”

11. Scroll to the bottom of the Application Form, and complete the three sections for “New Education” and “New Employer” and “New References,” and then click on “Save Section”

Add at least 1 New Education

Add at least 2 New References

Click on “Save Section”

12. Scroll back up to the top of the Application Form and click on “Submit My Application”

Click on “Submit My Application”

13. To submit your application click on “Save.” You have now completed the application submission process.

Click “Save” to submit your application

III. Procedure for Activating the Google Chrome Language Translation Function So That Selection Committee Member’s (SCM’s) May Score Lead Instructor Applications Not In Their Native Language

[Note: The procedure below demonstrates how to configure the Chrome language translation function so that a Selection Committee Member (SCM) can translate a Lead Instructor Application, not submitted in the SCM’s native language, into the SCM’s native language for scoring.]

1. Click on the “Customize and control Google Chrome” Icon

5. Make sure your primary language is selected. If you wish to change the your primary language, see slides 4 through 7.

5. Access any Lead Instructor Application that was completed in a language different from the primary language you designated in Chrome. Right click anywhere on the Lead Instructor Application Form, and then select “Translate to English.” Note, whatever language that you designated as your primary language in Chrome will be the language that Chrome offers to translate into (i.e. If English is the primary language you designated in Chrome, then Chrome will offer to “Translate to English” when you right click)

a. This Lead Instructor Application was completed by a FSPCA Community User located in Latin American and contains application text written in Spanish

b. Right click anywhere on the application form to bring up this menu

c. By selecting “Translate to English,” all of the application text written in Spanish will be translated to English – see next slide

d. The Spanish text in this lead instructor application has now been translated to English – see previous slide
