9 ordinary, diverse & diversely-skilled Africans will brave rugged Africa, on a series of Goodwill journeys - through 16 countries - culminating in the famed Cape to Cairo route. Travelling through remote villages and well-known towns and cities, they will learn from those they meet, create awareness, share their skills and empower disadvantaged communities. The stories and challenges of these communities will be well-documented as the team shares their experiences - through books, blogs and films.

“The 2010 World Cup is a wonderful part of Africa’s history.

The wonderful effect in terms of Marketing Africa, Education, Growth, opportunity and Goodwill must be maintained.

We believe that when ordinary Africans, like ourselves, take a stand for positive change, they will show Africa and the

World that they can make a huge difference.”

Team Africa Goodwill.

“Never doubt that a small group of thoughtful, committed citizens can change the world. Indeed, it is the only thing that

ever has.” Margaret Mead

“At the level of respect, all people are equal.”

Arthie and Brian Moore, 2002.

“Africans have this thing called UBUNTU.

It is about the essence of being human, it is part of the gift that Africa will give the world.

It embraces hospitality, caring about others, being able to go the extra mile for the sake of others. We believe that a person is a person through another person, that my

humanity is caught up, bound up, inextricably, with yours.

When I dehumanise you, I inexorably dehumanise myself.

The solitary human being is a contradiction in terms and therefore you seek to work for the common good because

your humanity comes into its own in belonging”.

Desmond TutuArchbishop Emeritus of Cape Town

We deeply desire to share the goodness of our continent with fellow Africans and the World.

These journeys, through well-known and forgotten parts of the African continent, will build awareness and understanding through our learning from Africa’s diverse people, sharing our mutual skills, building dreams and highlighting the need for education, goodwill

and growth.

We will document stories of cultures, traditions, ordinary people doing extra-ordinary things, sights, fun and cuisine during the

journey, and share these and other experiences with the world.

Our trip will, through extensive marketing, change existing stereotypes about Africa, and lead to a whole new perspective in the

way we treat and perceive each other, and ourselves.

Recordkeeping and communication – the team will keep records of the journey in writing, through photographs and video. This will be made available to the funders.
