Message from Monsignor René Mathieu: (1) Weekday Mass Schedule Change: Now that most of the outdoor work at St. Joseph Church is finished, we are resuming the two weekday Masses at Ste Anne Chapel. Beginning Tuesday, October 25 and Friday October 28, the 7:00 am Masses that have been celebrated at Most Holy Trinity for several months will once again be celebrated at the chapel in Biddeford…at least until snow threatens. (2) The annual Harvest Fair at St. Philip Church Hall will take place next Saturday and Sunday,

October 29/30. This is a popular event, and I encourage parishioners to drop by for penny raffle tables, crafts and baked goods. (3) The Church and the world need strong fathers. Consider attending the 2016 Maine Catholic Men’s Conference on Saturday, November 5, at the Augusta Civic Center to become the father that God has called you to be. The conference will get underway with Mass celebrated by Bishop Robert P. Deeley, at 10 am, but registration will begin at 7:30 am. The cost to attend is $50 (if registered before November 1) and $60 (beginning November 2, including tickets pur-chased at the door). To register or learn more information about the conference, visit www.portlanddiocese.org/catholic-mensconference-2016. (4) Recently, we received a bequest of $5,000 from the estate of Mrs. Georgette G. Proulx to benefit St. Margaret Church. Georgette was very active in Old Orchard Beach, and particu-larly close to priests and religious sisters. She died on March 2, 2011. May she rest in peace. I am grateful for such bequests that help support specific needs of our parish – above and beyond what the weekend offertory can support. I invite other parishioners to consider a bequest to the parish when drawing up estate plans. (5) Marriages are important to you, your family and the Church! Sign up now for the Worldwide Marriage Encounter weekend scheduled for Lewiston on December 2-4. The week-end is designed as a private experience between husband and wife. It focuses on communication techniques which help each individual couple enhance their experi-ence of intimacy, and rekindle the joy and excitement of living in love. The encounter weekends remain devoted to celebrating the precious gift of marriage, a sacred bond, as it has been received from the Creator. There is a $50 non-refundable application fee, and an opportunity to make a freewill donation during the weekend. For more infor-mation or to apply, visit www.wwmeMaine.org or contact Bill and Coco Watkin at (207) 668-4885. (6) Thank You of the Week: To those who organized the annual celebration of the Sacrament of the Anointing of the Sick last Sunday, and the lovely reception afterwards. I am grateful for the help provided by Fr. Ron Labarre and Fr. Joseph Manship. I was especially pleased to encounter parishioners who cannot routinely come to church, enabled by caregivers to participate in this uplifting cere-mony. Thank you!

JOKES PRIESTS CAN TELL, Vol. 7 - Msgr. Tonne: A young couple in our neighborhood had a loving relationship with their little boy, who especially looked forward to the time each day when his father came home from work. The youngster’s father took time to play with his son; their love for each other was obvious. One day his mother approached the little fellow with what she considered good news: “You are going to get either a little sister or a brother. Isn’t that wonderful?” He frowned and put his head down. “Not a sister. A brother.” “And he’d better bring his own Daddy.” -Grit

PARISH LITURGIES

~ Congratulations & God's blessings on your Anniversary ~

Wendell & Gloria Smith celebrating 39 years on October 29

Note: Weekday Masses have resumed at Ste. Anne Chapel on Tuesdays & Fridays.

Which priest is celebrating Mass where this weekend? We list the name of the priest who will celebrate every scheduled weekend

Mass. However, this schedule may be changed without notice.

Good Shepherd Parish Thirtieth Sunday in Ordinary Time October 23, 2016

Mass Intentions that were scheduled weekdays at 7 AM at MHT will now be offered at the corresponding 7 AM Ste. Anne Chapel Masses.

Please pray for the following couples scheduled to marry soon: Mathew Yeaton & Jessica Croteau

Alex Paul & Marina Morin

NOTICE TO ALL PARENTS IN CONNECTION WITH THE PRO-GRAM “PROTECTING GOD’S CHILDREN”: In the interest of

children’s safety, we ask that children not be allowed to leave Mass to use the restrooms downstairs or in the front entrance of the church, unless they are accompanied by an adult. Because we are a public

building, doors are required to be unlocked, allowing entrance to all.

BABY CLOTHES NEEDED (6 months or larger):

The Social Justice & Peace Commission would like your support in helping 2 young women who are

expecting babies. On their own and living temporarily at Sweetser, they have nothing for the babies they are

expecting. They could use new or gently used baby clothes (size 6 months or larger). As the saying goes, it takes a

village to raise a child. We hope we can give them a helping hand to get started.

Please leave the BABY CLOTHES in the box in the lobby of Most Holy Trinity Church.

CHANGE OF DATE TO FR. MANSHIP’S RECEPTION: Fr. Joseph Manship, former MHT pastor, and now retired, still works tirelessly sharing his faith and assisting the people of Good Shepherd Parish. We are so fortunate that he retired right in our neighborhood!

September 3rd marked the 40th Anniversary of his Ordination to the priesthood. A reception will be held to pay tribute to him and thank

him for his holy ministry on Sunday, November 6th, in the Most Holy Trinity Gathering Space, after 10:30 Mass. Please join us.

A last minute contribution

pushed us over the $5,000 match

and ended our very successful

campaign for the Centennial Year at the Chapel. Thank you, again, to all who contributed. See you next Spring!

Let’s recycle together — Did you know??? Each year over 375 million empty ink and toner cartridges

are thrown away with most ending up in landfills or in incinerators; this amounts to disposal of: 1,000,000

cartridges per day and 11 cartridges per second; put end-to-end, they would circle the earth over 3 times! The plastics used in printer

cartridges are made of an engineering grade polymer that have a very slow decomposing rate ranging between 450 to 1,000 years, depending on the cartridge type. This mountain of waste can be reduced through reuse and recycling. Yet, approximately 70% of all ink cartridges and

50% of all toner cartridges are still not recycled. We accept empty, once used only, name brand laser cartridges, print head inkjet cartridges, and cell phones. Please do not give us your old computer parts. We cannot send in for payment. Next time you have an empty, first-use cartridge, don’t throw it away! Just put it in a baggie or newspaper and bring to

Mass with you. We have boxes placed in all the churches of Good Shep-herd Parish. Everybody can help! Get empties from neighbors & friends.

The benefits are huge. The money raised aids our Faith Formation programs. Thank YOU!

Second Collection This Weekend - World Mission Sunday is an opportunity to participate in worldwide evangelization through the support of churches, chapels, schools, seminaries and catechetical

programs in 1100 mission dioceses.

Our prayers and donations on World Mission Sunday help to support churches,

hospitals, schools and vocations in countries where the Church is new, young or poor.

It is our chance to show our love and solidarity with our brothers and sisters who share our faith; to support them in our shared mission of showing

the love of God for all. Thanks to Mission Sunday, we can join with the whole Church in

bringing spiritual and material help to those who need it most.
