GOOD NEWS J U N E 2 0 1 2 St. Stephen’s Episcopal Church 1070 Dutch Road Fairview, PA 16415 814.474.5490 Hello St Stephens! I am honored and delighted to be here as your Priest-in-Charge. I see my role as first among equals in ministry. Each member of this community has important and valuable gifts for ministry. We all have things we are better at and others where we could use a little work. I hope we can all work from our strong places, to build upon and develop ministries that meet the needs of this com- munity. Unless you moved here in the past three weeks, you have been living here in this faith and geographic community longer than I have, and you have experiences here that I don’t. I would like to know about your experiences and your faith journey. I hope to have a chance to get to know each of you in the coming months. If that feels like an urgent meeting for you, please contact me to schedule an appointment. In my first sermon here at St Stephen’s, I talked about 3 P’s in our growing relationship and ministry together – patience, prayer, and possibility. Please continue to hold me and one another accountable for all three of those P’s. Speaking of prayer – you will notice a few small changes to our 10:00am Sunday wor- ship as we head into the Season after Pente- cost (which begins this coming Sunday June 3). Since the Season after Pentecost lasts for nearly 6 months, and always starts in the summer, it presents a chance to relax our worship style from the high celebration of Eastertide. Things you might notice as different: the Pray- ers of the People, the Eucharistic Prayer and Post-Communion Prayer. Since the choir takes a much-deserved break in the summer, we will be singing an Alleluia acclamation for the Gos- pel as a congregation – it will take some prac- tice, and I know we’ll pick it up within a few weeks – and we will be singing an Offertory hymn. I will be interested in your feedback about these small changes to our main prayer time together. A number of people have asked me about re- suming the Wednesday services here at the church and at Springhill. I am in conversation with the regular attendees of these services and we will see them resuming in the coming months, though the exact schedule is yet to be determined. On a personal note, I am so excited to finally be here with you! Thank you to each and every one of you who has welcomed my family and me so warmly. We are slowly getting our boxes unpacked and finding all the important things (like the zoo and haircut places) in Fairview and Erie. This comes with my love and blessings,
