OBB’S HISTORY . . .In the early days, where the street cars turned-around at the intersection of Burns, Point Douglas Road and Clarence Street, stood OBB’s Sports Bar & Grill.
Originating in 1919 as a grocery and feed store, the building underwent remodeling around 1934 and became one of the many bars in St. Paul to be licensed after the repeal of Prohibition.
Here it remains after 51 years, until it changed hands in 1982. Now it’s back in the hands of the original family – The Johnsens. Even though Bob Johnsen and his brother Glenn retired in 1982. Jim, son of Bob and Rosie, currently owns OBB’s.
The Johnsens are now working hard to maintain the quality and service their customers have come to expect. We hope that the OBB’s atmosphere is still that of an old time bar, complete with excellent service and tradition that will remain for years to come.

In the early days of OBB’s Bar Rosie was raising the family and working along with Bob at OBB’s. After putting in long days behind the bar, he loved to play softball and bowl.
