BEYOND THE GREENS
DiscoverANTALYA
Explore the most Ancient of cities Wander the enchanted landscape
Sail the seas of the azure Turquoise Coast
Previously known as Pamphylia, Antalya is literally littered with historical sites from the Byzantine, Roman and Ottoman ages. Take in Sagalassos, one of the best preserved cities in Asia, visit the Roman Aspendos amphitheatre, pay homage at the original church of St. Nicholas in Demre, and conquer Termessos, the city impregnable to even Alexander the Great.
Antalya is truly unique, as the natural environment means during certain months you can ski in the morning and swim in the sea the same afternoon. Take in the peaks of the snow-capped Taurus mountains, the canopy of Koprulu Canyon National Park, the stunning Duden waterfalls and Olympus, home to the Chimera.
It is not just the natural beauty of the Mediterranean shoreline which enchants even the most well-travelled sailors. The waters play host to some wonderfully untouched pieces of history; the sunken city of Kekova, ancient Lycian tombs, Red Rock Island, and Phaselis - the perfume depot of the Mediterranean.
Entertain all your senses
For those looking to switch up the pace, there are the options of horse riding, jeep safaris or white water rafting through mountain passes and traditional villages. Activities as varied as mountain climbing, paintballing, shopping, a visit to the world’s biggest tunnel aquarium, dance shows such as Fire of Anatolia, Oktoberfest and even our own Film Festival are amongst what Antalya has to offer.

Advice
We recommend to change money before departure or change it in one of the exchange centres in Belek. There are also ATMs in Belek available.Turkish Lira is the national currency, but Euros are accepted in most places. Change is often hard to come by, so make sure you have small denominations. Most major credit cards are accepted, but please be aware that there may be an additional charge to use your credit card abroad.
If you are visiting religious sites or places of interest, please remember to dress appropriately – you can ask your rep for specific advice.
Make sure you drink plenty of water to avoid dehydration, even if you are in air conditioned rooms. It is best to drink bottled water as the tap water content is different to what you are used to back home.
You will usually find fixed prices in larger shops and smaller general purpose shops, but elsewhere for example in the Belek market you can bargain.
Many staff are paid low salaries, so tips are appreciated in service orientated occupations. 10% is a good guideline.
Please make sure you put your valuables in security deposit boxes or they may not be covered by insurance. It is illegal not to carry some kind of photographic ID on you in Turkey, so please ensure you have some to hand (a driver ’s license for example is recommended rather than your passport).
