Virani Science College (Autonomous) and Atmiya University in association with Rajkot Municipal corporation post GORAS MELA (Janmastmi Fair- 2018) On the August day of 8 th September 2018 by the dawn of the day Celebration began on account of Golden Jubilee Celebration of SKS. Department of Computer Science and Information technology under the Divine blessing of H.D.H. Hariprasad Swamiji Maharaj (President – YDS), inspiration and leadership of Pujya Tyagvallabh Swamiji (Secretary – SKS) and Dr. K. D. Ladva (Registrar – Atmiya University) boosted by Respected Head of Department Dr. Stavan C. Patel and Dr. Hitendra N. Donga and event coordinator Hiren Kavathiya along with the faculty members made a remarkable contribution by cleaning the entire Ring Road (place of fair) by enthusiastic support of beloved students and Yogi Devine Society’s volunteer. This has an unconditional support from the Municipal Commissioner of Rajkot Shri Bancchanidhi Pani (Commissioner – RMC), Shri Ganatra Sir (Assistant Municipal Commissioner) andShree Nileshbhai Parmar (Environmental Engineer). The fair lasted for around 120 hours where around 5 lakhs people visited the same during Janmastmi post which the local governing body faced the challenge of cleaning the same. Team Computer Science & Information Technology and RMC collectively took up this task and invested 1350 Man hours to clean and segregate the general and plastic waste. There was sweep stake in the minds of the students too while the cleanliness drive, where, they themselves admitted that throwing garbage is easy and to collect, it takes ages. Hence with the same they learned the lesson of life to ensure sustainable environment not only for their house but for the city and at the country at large As this was during the drive time people of Rajkot were happy to see the youth learning values by cleaning and preserving the mother earth where they took photographs and helped in the drive wholeheartedly. This was much appreciated by the students themselves, Management and RMC at large.
