Brown Rice
Why brown rice?
Brown rice is a complex carbohydrate that provides 15 essential nutrients, including B-vitamins and
potassium. In the olden days, paddy used to be hand pounded and winnowed to remove the husk and
consumed as such. Nowadays whole rice is milled minimally to remove the husk to get the brown
rice. Polishing removes the layer that is filled with health-supportive, essential fats that make rice
highly susceptible to oxidation. Though this extends the shelf life of the product, the resulting white
rice is simply a refined starch that is largely deprived of its original nutrients.
Role in Diabetes
Brown rice retains all the nutrients that Nature bestowed it with. Brown rice is every weight watcher’s
dream food. A common sense approach to obesity control is to eat foods that have low glycemic index
(GI), like raw vegetables and fruits and whole grains.
Being insulin resistant means your body stops responding to insulin, and instead deposits every calorie
as fat. By metabolizing slowly and maintaining stable levels of blood sugar and/or serotonin, brown
rice snips away food cravings. By contrast, processed food releases a short burst of serotonin, but soon
returns to low-serotonin state and causes cravings for more sugar and simple carbohydrates.
Antioxidant Potential
Brown rice has antioxidants and phytonutrients that boosts the immune system, lowers cholesterol,
reduces risk of heart disease, stroke and colon cancer, and reduces severity of asthma. Brown rice can
substantially reduce the risk of colon cancer, as it is a a very good source of selenium, a trace mineral
that induces DNA repair and synthesis in damaged cells and inhibits the proliferation of cancer cells.
Selenium is an antioxidant and is essential for thyroid hormone metabolism and immune function.
Conclusion
Regular use of brown rice plays a vital role in keeping Health, MORE WEALTH
“Emphasized that god realization is a supreme goal of all living beings”
…. Ramakrishna Paramahamsa

Easy Way to Improve Health
'
Ayurveda states that even the correct drug may not produce lasting effect, unless the life style and diet
are attended to. Most degenerative diseases like arthritis results from persistent stress. Knowledge of
good dietary practices was deeply embedded in India’s traditional culture
Evidence
A typical method of cooking rice, appears to be very effective in helping musculoskeletal conditions.
The method removes extra starch and generally improves nutritional value, and makes beneficial
conditions for several degenerative disease conditions.
Cooking methodology
Cook rice with enough excess of water and drain off any excess water remaining which most soluble
carbohydrate are removed so sugar loading is decreased
Making use of drain water
Drain water can be offered to animals and plants which provides nutrient effect
It can be mixed with buttermilk and pinch of fenugreek seed and ferment overnight
The strain of yeast grows on fenugreek seed will give additional effect
Therapeutic value
Reduction in the kappa content decreases tendencies of constipation
Added microbial content from the yeast and lactobacillus considerably increase nutritional
value
Associated benefits
Decrease in sugar loading reduces obesity, insulin resistance, metabolic syndrome and type 2
diabetes and improves colon health
Exploring the important clinical therapy components from AYURVEDA and Dietary recipes
for better treatment is of crucial….
…. as they give WEALTH to the HEALTH in a very easy way.
If you want a love message to be heard, it has got to be sent out. To keep a
lamp burning, we have to keep putting oil in it

Mother‘s Milk
Breast milk supports the foundation of infant growth and development in the first few months of life
and it sets better foundation for the health in later stage too. The breast milk can never ‘emptied’, since
milk production is a continuous biological process
The initial milk produced is referred to as colotrum, which is high in the immunoglobulin (IgA),
• IgA coats the gastrointestinal tract and protects the newborn until its own immune system is
functioning properly
• It creates mild laxative effect, expelling meconium and helping to prevent the build up of
bilurubin (a contributory factor in jaundice)
Nutritions in mother milk
1. Mother milk is rich in vitamins, minerals and other nutrients as well as trace elements.
2. Mother milk is alive, it contains digestive enzymes and live immune cells.
Health Benefits
Lowered risk of sudden infant death syndrome (SIDS)
Increased intelligence
Decreased incidence of ear infections and dental problems
Lowered risk of diabetes, childhood leukemia and asthma
Decreased risk of psychological disorders
Cow’s milk does not contain sufffcient vitamin E, Iron and essential fatty acids, which can cause
anemic.
Cow’s milk contains excessive protein, sodium and potassium, which may put a strain on
infant’s immature kidneys and infants experiences difficulty in digesting cow’s milk
“All matter originates and exists only by virtue of a force...
We must assume behind this force the existence of a conscious and intelligent Mind.
This Mind is the matrix of all matter.”

treatment if only milk is given internally then the results will be more effective.
6. To prevent epilepsy in children this rhizome is prepared as an amulet and tied in the body
of the child preferably waist.
Acorus calamus is also found to possess anti-oxidant, diuretic, anti-microbial and anti-
inflammatory activities.
Extract of Acorus calamus rhizomes also exhibited significant anti-inflammatory effect in
experimental animals like acute and chronic models which was observed to be well comparable
with that of the reference drugs like hydrocortisone, phenylbutazone etc.

Eribulin
Eribulin- a new drug to treat breast cancer. Eribulin is a synthetic ketone analogue of the marine
sponge halichondrin B, natural mitotic inhibitor found in Japan’s pacific coast.
Mechanism of action
Acts as a unique inhibitor of microtubule dynamics, binding predominantly to a small
number of high affinity sites of microtubules.
Eribulin exerts its anticancer effect by triggering apoptosis and irreversible mitotic blockade,
blocks cell division and forms toxic components for the tumor cells.
Eribulin, first drug iimproves the survival rate 20 % without combining with any other drugs
and shows minor toxicity than any other chemotherapeutics.
Side effects
Neutropenia, anemia, leucopenia, peripheral neuropathy on discontinuation of treatment,
asthenia, alopecia and constipation

Januvia - anti diabetic agent
A new anti diabetic drug Sitagliptin phosphate (Januvia ) has been approved by USFDA for the
management of type 2 diabetes. This lowers blood sugar level by blocking DPP-4 enzyme.
Mechanism of action
DPP-4 is responsible for the breakdown of proteins, which stimulates the insulin producing cells
after a meal. So by inhibiting DPP-4 insulin level can be maintained, and it prolongs the release
of insulin.
Dose
100 mg once a day and adjusted based on renal function.
Need not be taken along with meal, as other classes of anti-diabetics
Drug interaction
Observed with tenor in – beta blocker, MAOIs, bactrim, NSAIDs and probenecid.
Side effects
Sore throat and head ache

ECO FRIENDLY LIFE ADAPTATION CAMPAIGN
With that idea WOW organized ECO FRIENDLY LIFE ADAPTATION CAMPAIGN, which was
held at NTR garden and Necklace road and the same was organized in college campus also. Andhra
Prabha – telugu daily news paper witnessed the activity.
Global warming refers to an average increase in the Earth's temperature, which in turn causes changes
in climate. A warmer earth may lead to changes in rainfall patterns, a rise in sea level, and a wide
