From Your Rector:
Beloved:
As we move into summertime church attendance invariably declines. This is among the reasons we combine the services in July with a single service at 10:00a.m. This helps by creating a "critical mass" in the church building. Some are very happy about this, others are equally dismayed. Either way it only lasts for four Sundays. The regu-lar schedule resumes in August.
Another result of summertime church is a substantial decline in income. We are es-pecially grateful for those who keep their pledges current in July, August, and Sep-tember. It also helps if those who don't pledge but give through the open offering are aware of the problem and help as they can.
In Christ
Deacon’s Corner: A big THANKS to everyone from Mother Tulia. They have been able to complete everything on the first floor – see pics in the parish hall of the progress- and now they are really ready for the group from North Carolina who will be there shortly. We and They are still waiting for someone who is willing to do the windows in the church, but we keep saving $$ from your generous donations, so when they do find someone, we will be ready!
Please mark your calendars for August 29 for the big Gala Cubana. This is going to be a fun fund raiser to get $$ to pay the priests salaries in Cuba. The Bishop of Cuba will be there and a great live band. Come early at 5:00 to learn to dance the Salsa! Then dinner will start at 6:30 with Cuban cuisine and Sangria for the rest of the evening. The cost is $35 if you reg-ister on line or $50 at the door. To register and pay, go to www.diocesefl.org and click on the Gala Cubana banner when it comes up. You must register before August 23 to get the discount price.
On another note, we want to celebrate the marriage of Lou Walters and Suzanne at an after church reception on July 19. We want to have a “flower shower” for them, so everyone bring a flower!! Lets make this a very special day for Lou and Suzanne.
Men’s Night Out The men’s will meet on Tuesday, July 28th and August 25th at 6pm. The grill will be ready at 5:30pm for whatever you bring, fish, chicken, steak or maybe a ham-burger or hot dog. All men are in-vited for a time of good food and fellowship. It’s very informal, so BYOB.
Choir/chimes
The choir and chimers are
on hiatus until September.
N/A Meetings The Thursday night meet-ings begin at 5pm.
