In 2019 we will continue to seek ways to strengthen relationships and build opportunities for all parents to connect with our school. Although parental involvement and parental engagement are often used interchangeably, there are differences. It is proven that student achievement in learning is fostered when both parents and schools work together to facilitate a supportive, rich learning environment in both the home and school. Building positive parent school relationships is the starting point. Next week’s teacher parent /student meetings will help foster these important partnerships. Teachers will look to continue to build on the information shared at these meetings in different ways. It is our intention that all families will have engaged with their child’s teachers in some capacity in the next week. Parent Involvement refers to activities that take place at school such as volunteering, meeting with teachers, attending school events, engaging with Skoolbag, Facebook page, Playgroup and parent-teacher meetings/ interviews. Parent Engagement refers to schools enabling parents to take their place alongside educators in the schooling of their children. As a staff we will be developing strategies to support authentic parent engagement and invite your feedback. Along with this, the Modbury School Governing Council will be involved in discussions this year to support the development of opportunities for greater parent engagement in the schooling of your children. Essentially, the outcome we are looking for is that the power and authority be shared by educators and parents with ideas to be mutually determined and beneficial. If you have any feedback for the Governing Council, please forward your comments via email [email protected] or a note to the office for the Governing Council Members. Pancake Breakfast / Assembly Special thanks to the Modbury School Community Group and volunteers that supported the pancake breakfast on Wednesday 27 February. Additional thanks to Trinity Church Modbury for their ongoing support of these events providing hot beverages.

Dear Families,
Parent Engagement is important at Modbury School P-7!
In 2019 we will continue to seek ways to strengthen relationships and build
opportunities for all parents to connect with our school. Although parental
involvement and parental engagement are often used interchangeably,
there are differences.
It is proven that student achievement in learning is fostered when both parents
and schools work together to facilitate a supportive, rich learning environment
in both the home and school. Building positive parent school relationships is
the starting point. Next week’s teacher parent /student meetings will help
foster these important partnerships. Teachers will look to continue to build on
the information shared at these meetings in different ways. It is our intention
that all families will have engaged with their child’s teachers in some capacity
in the next week.
Parent Involvement refers to activities that take place at school such as
volunteering, meeting with teachers, attending school events, engaging with
Skoolbag, Facebook page, Playgroup and parent-teacher meetings/
interviews.
Parent Engagement refers to schools enabling parents to take their place
alongside educators in the schooling of their children. As a staff we will be
developing strategies to support authentic parent engagement and invite
your feedback.
Along with this, the Modbury School Governing Council will be involved in
discussions this year to support the development of opportunities for greater
parent engagement in the schooling of your children. Essentially, the outcome
