Sign Up for Gmail
• With your new Gmail account, you will also have a Google account with
the same username and password. You can use it for other Google
products, if you like, such as YouTube and Google Drive.
• Open a browser, such as Firefox or Chrome
• Type Gmail.com in the search bar, then hit the Enter or Return key

• Click on Create account
• Fill in the blanks and choose a username
• Create a strong password!
• Make it unique, with a mix of upper- and lower-case
letters, numbers, symbols
• Don’t use personal information or common words,
keyboard patterns, or sequential patterns.
• Keep your password secure!

• You will receive an
email from
Google.
• Click on this email
message to open it.
• Click on the link in
the email to verify
your Google
account.

Sending Messages
• On the left side, click on Compose.
• In the “To” field, type your recipient’s email address.
• If you want to send a copy to anyone, type their addresses in the Cc
(carbon copy) field.
• You can hide recipients’ email addresses from each other by using the Bb
(blind copy) feature – this protects others’ privacy.
• In the Subject field, enter a subject heading.

• Under the subject line, find the large, open field.
• Click in this large field.
• Write the body of your message!
• Review your message.
• Click Send.
• You have sent a message
using Gmail!

Replying to Messages
Below the message sent to you, click in the box, or click the arrow icon in the top right corner.
Type your message and click on the blue Send button.

Forwarding Messages
• In the box below the message, click on Forward.
• Or, click the down arrow next to Reply in the top-right corner, then select
Forward.

• Type the recipient’s email address.
• Type your message.
• Review your message, then click on the blue Send button.

Adding Attachments
• At the bottom of the Compose window,
click on the paperclip icon.
• Browse through your files to find the
file you want to attach, then click on it,
and click Open.
• You can also drag and drop
attachments into your Compose
window. You can include the
attachment inline in your message, or
as an attachment. It’s your choice!
