The Global Ph.D. in Psychology provides the opportunity for students to study transpersonal psychology with ITP from anywhere in the world that has Internet access. This five-year online program was designed for mature students who have the ability to work independently and the motivation to parlay the principles and practices of transpersonal psychology into creative, professional applications in four major areas: individuals, small groups, organizations, and the global community.

As a student, you will be taught advanced psychological theories, critical thinking and research methods, along with your whole-person studies. This comprehensive education can be applied for original research, scholarly publications, teaching, and professional advancement.

You will also attend two seminars each year, featuring presentations by some of the leaders in the field of transpersonal psychology. Held in a beautiful retreat center among California’s majestic redwoods, the seminars will provide you opportunities for community-building with staff, faculty and students, and to hike and replenish yourself during off hours.

ITP’s faculty provide the core of a true learning community. They are leaders in the field of transpersonal psychology who are fully engaged with students at the seminars, in online classes, and for individual consultations. With faculty support and guidance, you will be encouraged to research areas that reflect both your interests and your passions.

The research of ITP’s doctoral students has garnered more than 15 APA awards for excellence. Some of our graduates have presented their innovative research at professional conferences, some have written books, some have written articles that were published in peer-reviewed journals.

Advanced Standing:The Global Ph.D. program welcomes you to apply for advanced standing if you have completed a master’s degree from an accredited school in psychology, social work, divinity or a related field with a strong emphasis on psychology. If accepted with advanced standing, you will begin your program in Year 3.

The curriculum for the Global Online Ph.D. offers a solid foundation in the theories, approaches, and perspectives of the field of Psychology, in general, with an extensive concentration in Transpersonal Psychology. As a student of the five-year program, you will take all of the coursework listed below. If you have a qualifying master’s degree (see below) and are accepted into the three-year program, you will take just the courses with asterisks (*).
