This is a graduate program which provides:

a. aregional focusonmanagingbusinessthroughouttheAmericas;

b. aglobal perspectivethroughtravelandselectedrealbusinesscasesfocusedonstrategyinthemajorbusinessregionsoftheworld;

c. aninternational leadership and team building challengethroughteamworkinauniqueinternationalcohort,and;

d. adual degreeMBA(LatinAmerica)/MasterofGlobalManagement(U.S.).

Theprogram is a joint-venture of four prestigiousbusiness schools: IESA,Caracas;ITAM,MexicoCity;Tulane University,NewOrleans,andUniversidad de los Andes,Bogota.MBAstudentsofthesepartnerschoolsenrollinaspecial global modulecomprisedof6three-creditscoursesofferedinfivedifferentcountries.Theglobalmoduleisofferedoff of the normal academic calendartoaccommodatetravelandacceleratedgraduatestudy.

These courses focus on international leadership, teambuilding, and globalbusinessstrategy.Ateam-basedinternationalmarketingandenterprisevaluation(BurkenroadReports for Latin America) projectwill be executed over thedurationofthemodule.Uponcompletionofthisprogram,participantsreceivetheMBAfromtheirhome institutionandtheMasterofGlobalManagementfromTulaneUniversity.

Participantswilltravel inaninternationalcohortforexperiential learningandgraduatestudyintheUS, Mexico, Colombia, France and China.

The global module will be taught by Tulane faculty and faculty of partner schools. The following courses will comprise the global module. The program activities will begin with a local orientation program at each participating school. Students will be invited to their local campus for a briefing on the curriculum, travel, calendar, finances, etc.

Tuition for the program includes graduate instruction for six (36 contact hour) graduate courses plus the books and materials required for these courses. In addition, housing and two meals per day will be provided on all travel excursions. Evening meals will be provided on special occasions. Students will be responsible for their own transportation expenses to and from the city where classes will be held as well as travel within those cities (including travel from airports to hotels) unless otherwise provided by the program. Students will be required to travel to Paris, Mexico City, Shanghai or Beijing, Bogota, and New Orleans to attend classes.

n ApplicantsmustbeproficientinEnglish.Proficiencywillbeassessedbyscoreonlanguageproficiencytestsadministeredbylocalgraduateprogram.

nApplicantsmusthaveatleastthreeyearsofmanagerialexperience.

nApplicantsmusthaveanundergraduatedegree(ortheequivalent).

nStudentsenrolledintheGlobalMBAdual-degreeprogrammustcompletetherequirementsforbothdegreesinordertoreceiveeitherdegree.

Applicantsfromassociatedgraduateprogramsmaybeconsiderediftheyhavecompletedagraduatelevelcourseineachofthetopics:economics,quantitativemethods,accounting,finance,marketing,andorganizationalbehavior.

GraduatesoftheprogramsatIESA, ITAM, Tulane,andUniversidad de los Andes withinthepastfiveyearsareeligibletoapplytotheGlobalMBA.

pAyMent Of tuitiOnThetuitionfortheglobalmoduleis$23,000whichincludesallbooksandtravelexpensesexceptairfare.Tuitionmaybecollected in5paymentsduringtheprogram.

Leadership is analyzed in terms of personal characteristics ofeffectiveleaders.Whatarethequalitiesthatgreatleaderspossess?Howcanwedevelopthosequalitiesinourselvesandinothers?Arethereculturaldifferencesinleadership?Leadershipisalsoexaminedfromafunctionalpoint of view.What are themost important functions of a leader in anorganization?Whatarethebestwaysforaccomplishingthosefunctions?Special attention ispaid todecisionmakingandstrategicchange. Global Environment of BusinessThiscourseisthefirstofaseriesofthreecoursesdealingwithglobalbusinessandstrategy.Thepurposeofthecourseistoprovideabasisforunderstandingthefundamentalsofinternationalbusiness.Thecourseisorganizedaroundthreemajortopics:(1)thedifferencesinthebusinessenvironmentacrossnationsfromasocial,culturalandpoliticalperspectiveaswellastheeffectofbusinessenvironmentonmanagerialdecisions. (2)Firm’s internationalexpansionandentrystrategies. (3) Internationalbusinessoperationsandmanagementacrossborders.Althoughthecourseisbasedonthegeneraltheoryof internationalbusiness,casesand lecturesemphasize theLatinAmericanbusinessenvironmentandtheopportunitiesforLatinAmericancompaniesworldwide.

Global Strategy & CompetitionThiscoursecontinuestheinternationalbusinessseriesandfocusesontwomainobjectives:(1)understandingthepatternsofglobalcompetitioninagivenindustry,whataretheforcespushingtowardglobalization,howdotheyaffecttheplayers,andwhatarethefactorsunderpinningthesuccessofglobalcompetitorsintheindustry,and;(2)examiningthewaystodesignastrategyforcompetingefficientlyinglobalmarkets,howtoredesignthevaluechainofthefirmacrosstheglobe,andhowtosuccessfullyenterforeign

markets?Although“global”indesign,methodsandconceptstaught,thecoursewillhavea“Europeantouch”(textbook,casesselectedandlecturesdedicatedtoEurope.)

International EntrepreneurshipThiscoursefocusesonplanningattheexecutivelevel.Itbeginsbybuildingafoundationoftechniquesandprinciplesapplicabletoallformsofplans.It thenmoves to concerns specific to theAsian environment, especiallytheeffectsof rapidlychangingenvironmentandcompetition. Unique tothiscourse is theuseof localsitesand localexecutivesas resources indevelopingunderstandingofissuesspecifictoexecutivelevelplanninginChinaandotherpartsofAsia.

International FinanceThiscourseisdesignedtoprovideanintegratedviewofinternationalfinancialmarketsandthemanagementofmultinationalfirms. Itwillbeginwithanexaminationofmarketsforspotexchange,currencyforwards,optionsandswaps.Foreachofthesemarkets,wewillstudythevaluationofinstrumentstradedinthesemarkets.Next,thecoursewillfocusonissuesthatmultinationalmanagers are required todealwith: (I)managing exposure to exchangerates, (II)financing in international capitalmarkets, and (III)internationalcapital budgeting. This coursewill be focusedon financialmarkets andtransactionsinLatinAmerica.

Global Supply ChainsThecourseprovidesanintroductiontoglobaloperationsandsupplychainconcepts,tools,andstrategiesandistargetedtoexecutivesandgeneralmanagers. The teachingmethodologywill consist primarily of the casemethodandwillbecomplementedbyreadingsandlectures.Studentswillbe expected to prepare casewrite-ups individually and asmembers ofmulti-countryteams.CaseswillbeselectedtoillustratethechallengesandopportunitiesifoperatingininternationalmarketsinAsia,Europe,andtheAmericas.ProjectswillbeevaluatedbymanagersfromtheU.S.
