thOn the occasion of the launch of Pune Chapter on 27 February 2015 , GCNI in partnership with Sandvik Asia Pvt. Limited organised a keynote address by Christina Bge-Friborg, Head - Sustainable Business, Sandvik AB, on the theme of 'Sustainability within companies and markets'. In her address, Ms. Bge-Friborg stated that sustainable development goals demonstrated a closer relationship between the development community and the corporate world, and would be more relevant for businesses. The key note address was followed by a panel discussion, themed Collaborate or compete? Which is the better way?. Sara Larsson, General Manager, Swedish Chamber of Commerce India, moderated the discussion and the other panelists included Beroz Rumie Gazdar, Vice President (Western Region), GCNI and Sr. Vice President, Group Sustainability, Mahindra & Mahindra, Dr. Joy Deshmukh, Member- Governing Council, GCNI and Global CSR head at Tata Consultancy Services, Naresh Kumar Pinisetti, President - Human Resources, Deepak Fertilisers and Petrochemicals Corporation Limited and Anand Mahajani, Head, Corporate Sustainability, L&T Infotech Limited. The panel discussed how sustainability in the Indian context is usually viewed from a short-term perspective and gave practical examples of how adopting sustainability agenda can make business sense in terms of profit and growth. Over 50 participants from corporate, civil society organisations and associations attended the event.
