Dear parents, Paul Kelly Gala Day - will be held on March 22. Miss Pillen will be taking 28 students along to participate in a day of AFL skill development and games. We wish all of the students a very successful day. The Monday Morning Assembly – is a special time for our students. Assemblies allow students and teachers to pay respect to the presenters, award-winning students, the Australian National Anthem, the School Creed and the school song. Whilst students do remind parents to stand for the anthem, it is important that parents ensure they are not talking during the assembly. This includes all parents whether you be standing along the back wall or under the covered area near the gates. Please help us to teach the children about respect by being a good model for them. Car drop-offs and pick-ups – have begun to get worse again! In mornings, drivers should come to a stop before children exit a vehicle and they should only do so on the passenger side of the car. This Wednesday morning a black van pulled up, allowed children to leave it and then drove off with a small child standing at the open van door!!! In afternoon times, drivers SHOULD NOT double park on Armitage Dve and then call students from the footpath to walk between cars that have engines idling – it is a dangerous practice that could cost a life. A reminder also that cars are NOT to be parked in the pick-up zone and left with engines idling (just this week, I had to speak to a mother about doing just this only to have her tell me that she left the car running because she had two small children in the car!!!). Please consider that when parents rush, children can be hurt. Delivery of students to and collection of students from school – has also begun to be a problem. Regrettably, we have had to consider putting a school policy together to cover the many aspects of this part of the school’s functioning. As soon as it is completed and approved by staff it will be published in the newsletter for parent input. The new Electronic School News Sign is now in place. Staff will be trained in its use in the next week or so and then the messages will begin to show! Dear parents,
Paul Kelly Gala Day - will be held on March 22. Miss Pillen will be taking 28 students along to participate in a day
of AFL skill development and games. We wish all of the students a very successful day.
The Monday Morning Assembly – is a special time for our students. Assemblies allow students and teachers to pay
respect to the presenters, award-winning students, the Australian National Anthem, the School Creed and the school
song. Whilst students do remind parents to stand for the anthem, it is important that parents ensure they are not
talking during the assembly. This includes all parents whether you be standing along the back wall or under the
covered area near the gates. Please help us to teach the children about respect by being a good model for them.

children exit a vehicle and they should only do so on the passenger side of the car. This Wednesday morning a black
van pulled up, allowed children to leave it and then drove off with a small child standing at the open van door!!! In
afternoon times, drivers SHOULD NOT double park on Armitage Dve and then call students from the footpath to walk

Please consider that when parents rush, children can be hurt.
Delivery of students to and collection of students from school – has also begun to be a problem. Regrettably, we
have had to consider putting a school policy together to cover the many aspects of this part of the school’s
functioning. As soon as it is completed and approved by staff it will be published in the newsletter for parent input.

Talent Quest Finals
Talent Quest Finals will be held in the School Hall where students will display their creative talents.
Annual Hat Parade For the Hat Parade, all students from K-6 are invited to participate by wearing a decorated hat or mask, or they may decorate and carry a basket. Students may bring hats to school in the morning or parents can bring them in later. Please do not deliver these to the office. If it is a hot day, please DO NOT decorate hats and baskets with chocolate eggs.
The Hat Parade will begin in the main courtyard at approximately 1.40pm after classes assemble around the edge of the courtyard. Parents can sit on the chairs provided. The parade and competition draw are expected to finish at approximately 2.45pm. ALL STUDENTS ARE EXPECTED TO STAY UNTIL THE END OF SCHOOL. We will endeavour to continue, if there is wet weather, by keeping students under cover.
Hat Parade Guessing Competition A successful fundraising event that is held every year in conjunction with the Hat Parade is the guessing competition. Prizes include at least three baskets full of eggs and other goodies. The chocolate eggs for the baskets are generously donated by the students. Last year we managed to have approximately 20 big prizes and a number of smaller as a result of the students being so generous.
To encourage donations of eggs we will be having a Mufti Day on Wednesday, 5th April 2017. On this day children do not have to wear school uniform but may wear other neat, tidy clothes of their choice. Appropriate footwear must also be worn. The donation for
wearing mufti clothes is an Easter egg of medium size or larger for the raffle baskets. Guessing competition tickets have been sent home. Please return them to school on or before Friday, 7th April 2017. Mr D Meaney Miss Williams and Mrs Turner Principal Coordinators
IMAGINATION Young Leaders Day Excursion
Written by Pari & Kajol of 6L
On Friday the 3rd of March, the SRC’s went on a trip to the
Young Leaders Day in Darling Harbour. When we got there we
met five special people that have done things that have made
Australia proud. One of the speakers was Jade Hameister who
completed her first triathlon by the age of 6 and conquered the
Mt Everest Base Camp Trek by the age of 12. Another person
was Dr Jordan Nguyen, who after almost breaking his neck was
inspired to develop a mind controlled smart wheelchair for
people with high level physical disabilities. We also heard Barry Conrad, a multi-
talented person, perform. We also listened to Sam Webb, the co-founder of LIVIN,
and a cast member of Survivor talk about speaking up and letting people know when
you need help. These are all the amazing leaders which we had the pleasure of
listening to. On the way back to Town Hall Station we got a little wet from the rain, but
overall we had a great day and really enjoyed listening to inspiring people and
thinking of ways in which we can develop our own leadership.
