Why COMPILLAR columns?

colour – Masts are formed in a selected colored resin, characterized by high and long-term UV resistance. COMPILLAR columns, depending on type, may be finished matt or high gloss.

resistance – COMPILLAR columns do not corrode. Survive wood, aluminum, steel or concrete under the same conditions. COMPILLAR columns do not change their properties in the salty,acidic and humid environment, they are chemically resistant and environmentally friendly.

strength – Specific laminate strength is higher than steel. COMPILLAR poles are designed to withstand heavy wind loads.

electrical insulation – COMPILLAR columns are non-conductive, eliminate risk of electric shock.

weight – Weight of glass-fibre reinforced composite is a 4-times lower than the weight of steel. Due to the low mass COMPILLAR poles help to minimize costs of transportation and installation.

antigraffiti - surface of gelcoat is resistant to chemical solvents (eg. acetone). Cleaning of graffiti paint using above solvent does not affect the layer of gelcoat surface and colour.

passive safety - composite poles break as a result of vehicle impact, eliminating danger to passengers.

GRP composite poles can be buried in the ground due to their corrosion-resistant properties. This installation method is easy and cost-effective, as no concrete works are required. GRP composite poles are an ideal replacement for wooden telecommunication poles. When compared to wooden poles, composite columns have a longer service-life (60 years), weigh less and are insect-resistant.

Compillar’s composite poles for power transmission lines currently extend up to 10m in height. They are designed to withstand 500kg of load-resistance on top. Poles are easily installed in challenging and inaccessible environments.

Passive safety BS EN 12767

Compillar performed calculations and simulations for composite pole for compliance with the passive safety standard. The contractor since 1993, has conducted in France about 100 tests for traffic safety devices annually, performs crash tests involving passenger cars, buses and trucks with weights from 900kg to 38000kg, which represents a full range of vehicles as defined in the standards EN 1317 and EN 12767.

The parameters for calculation

Type of pole - 9m tapered composite pole, circular section, direct burial assembly.

Calculation method - FEM finite element method - Program BarrLier - tests EN1317 and EN12767

Car model - BMW weighing 1500kg

Initial speed of 50 km/h , final speed 42 km/h.

The simulation result is NE (does not absorb energy).

The design of GRP laminate is resilient in humid, salty and windy conditions,

allowing Compillar to supply lighting poles to chemical environment plants, and

high-corrosion and high-voltage areas with no risk of injury.

Comparing strength to weight ratio, GRP composite material is stronger and four

times lighter in comparison to steel. This enables reduced transport and on-site

installation costs.
