The GL1280 series provides a highly integrated
solution for hybrid Satellite + 3G solutions and is
ideal for anyone wishing to develop and customise
their own communication solutions. A-Tick approved
out of the box allows the GL1280 to be integrated
into a custom OEM end product.
Based around the Atmel ATMEGA1280 AVR the
GL1280 provides a reliable platform for developing
applications based on the latest 2G, 3G and LTE
modules from Telit as well as to provide options for
Satellite (Iridium), GPS (GNSS), Bluetooth and Wi-Fi.
The compact 80 x 100mm board mounts into
existing extruded aluminium cases or for outdoor
applications can be mounted into an IP rated
enclosure.
The GL1280 provides options for Penta Band 3G
HSPA+ (GFF910-G), Quad band 2G (GC864-QUAD)
as well it provides GPS mouse options with SiRF,
Mediatek and ST Micro receiver engines supporting
GPS, Glonass and QZSS. There is a built in relay,
uSD , external RAM, accelerometer and opto-
coupled GPIO and iButton support.
Basic tracking application posting position, time
and speed data to Open GTS mapping server is
available for evaluation, as well the option to
provide API to update the application over the air
and there is the ability to embed Python script on
the Telit 2G and 3G modules also.

Options to program and embed your application
in C, C++ or Arduino are supported as well many
basic applications are available running within
Free RTOS and compiled within the free GCC
compiler.
Coding and compiling via the free AVR-Studio
and either using the AVRISP2 or the DragonICE
for programming and debugging over the JTAG
connector.
Alternatively Arduino code can be written and
compiled and downloaded via the serial port
with the Arduino bootloader.

To further enhance the capabilities the expansion
port provides power and communications via
UART3 as well GPIO from the AVR.
Custom daughter cards can be fitted with the
Iridium Satellite transceiver, Long Range
Bluetooth and Wi-Fi.

Developed by Telit the 80way Global Form Factor interface
provides
option to fit 2G, 3G and 4G modules by way of an 80 pin
Molex
interface.
This interface provides commands and data along with GPS NMEA
back
to the ATmega1280 host MCU.
All modules support Python code programming and there is option
to
provide connection to the USB port back to a dedicated daughter
board.

Different options are available for adding GPS, the lowest
cost option is to connect Active GPS antenna this can be
achieved either with a combo, GSM+GPS antenna or with

GPS mouse with options for Mediatek, ST-Micro and SiRF
GPS engines via 6way Micro-Fit connector.
