Give it a Go (GIAG)
Give it a Go is an activities programme run by your Students’ Union which offers you the opportunity to leap into the unknown and try something new, learn new skills and meet new people. With trips around the UK, taster sessions ranging from Bollywood Dancing to British Sign Language, and activities including quad biking and pottery painting, there really is something for everyone. So, what are you waiting for? Give it a Go!
How to BookWhile not every session requires you to book in advance, we recommend that you do early to avoid disappointment! If a session becomes too full and we have to turn you away!

Knit 4 Fun
Do you want to learn to knit or crochet? These workshops are for beginners. Go Play is the all-new ‘Alternative Sports Programme’ at Newcastle University, giving students an opportunity to try a new sport, pick up an old one or just dip in and out without needing to commit. There are no membership fees, no commitments and no pressure to compete – it’s just fun, friendly Sport For All!
We offer many different sports every term, each one running for 6 weeks. You don’t need any experience or equipment – every session is suitable for beginners and all equipment is provided.

Learn to skate at Whitley Bay Ice Rink! From complete beginners to those who want to brush up old skills! Always wanted to try it, but can’t afford a trip to the mountains? Take the easy option! Come with us for a beginner session on the dry slope, all equipment and transport provided, just bring gloves!You can choose to take part on either:

Kayaking
