One year of GEWG

Promoting girls’ right & Education to end gender inequality

• The working group has held it’s meetings at different locations with members volunteering to host the meetings.

• Good participation from the members and commitment to contribute to work of the WG

• WG has expanded- from 5 members to currently 10 members of RENCP

• Active involvement of MINEDUC/GE Expert

Updates from GEWG

Promoting girls’ rights & Education to end gender inequality

• Provided inputs to the EFA review • An annual GE campaign review is being

conducted by Imbuto country wide. Report will be shared on completion

• Situational Analysis of Girls Education Policy /GEP. ToR has been approved by PS/MINEDUC- 17th June deadline for bids./Girl Hub leading on this.

Updates from GEWG

Promoting girls rights and education to end gender inequality

• 10 days girls Education campaign in Gatsibo and Bugesera- by Plan- door to door campaigns, radio program/Radio 1 for 10 days.

• Country wide Compaigns conducted to encourage girls to enroll into TVET

• 433 best performing girls at National exams rewarded

• Celebration of the DAC by GEWG

Going forward

Promoting girls, rights & Education to end gender inequality

• GEWG members adopting initiatives to Promote gender equality through postive masculinities/ Men engage initiatives; Boys for Change

• Planning training for RENCP on postive masculilinities/men engage approaches for duplication in own programs where possible

• GEWG will elect the next Chair and Co Chair after GA

• Committed to continue the good work of promoting girls education, participation and representation
