Earn a Girl Scout Ranger patch Girl Scouts are invited to earn a Resource Stewardship certificate by visiting and spending 5 hours exploring the Lincoln Home National Historic Site. Scouts can: • Watch the two films in the Visitor Center • Tour the Lincoln Home • View Dean and Arnold house exhibits • Listen to the Lincoln Neighborhood Cell Phone tour • Complete the Junior Ranger Book activities • Look at Visitor Center exhibits and visit the Museum Store. • Talk to a Park Ranger about National Park Service careers • Draw a picture, make a craft, or make a video about Lincoln Home • Participate in a special event or Ranger talk For an additional five hours scouts can earn a Resource Stewardship patch by participating in other Lincoln Home activities and/or exploring other Lincoln sites. Activity examples include: • Tour Springfield Lincoln sites as the Lincoln Tomb, New Salem, Abraham Lincoln Presidential Museum and/or the Old State Capitol • Staff the Lincoln Home Junior Ranger activity table • Take part in a Journey to Greatness program by going to http://www.lookingforlincoln.com/Journey/index.html • Write a postcard or poem, take pictures, or create a scrapbook about Lincoln’s life. • Participate in the march to and rally at the Illinois State Capitol This nation-wide program encourages volunteer service and teaches scouts about the National Park Service.
